This is the SAG National Majority's gift to the Regional Branches for their support: SAG has added professional staff on the ground in Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Nevada. "We serve Branch members, and the many SAG actors who are working in these states from other areas." On the other hand, 75% of SAG's money comes from the Hollywood Division, yet the SAG National Majority is intent on decreasing Hollywood's say in how the union is administered. Go figure.

Carl Icahn Now Wants ALL Of Lionsgate
Lets just please get some staff members to work negotiating a contract.
Nikki, what the hell is going on? Is there any forward movement on this crucial issue? The whole town is grinding to a halt and nobody, NOBODY is reporting on this shutdown.
No mention of the issue at the oscars either.
An entire industry is dissolving as we sit and do nothing…….
We need to lock both parties in a conference room and get to work
so the rest of us can get back to work. This whole passive aggressive non action is just giving the bloggers more space to whine. We need action.
Everyone is entitled to representation and service. Alaska has way less population than Texas, NY, Florida or California. Does that mean they are not entitled to Federal Courts? Wyoming has less population than many other states. Does that mean the Interstate should stop at the state line?
Merely because Hollywood is 75% of the action does not mean that it should get 100% of Guild Services. Every SAG member is entitled to the same level of service & representation as Hollywood.
What we have here is a failure to communicate.
What will be, will be, right?
Box office – HUGE
TV – ratings? Up. significantly
SAG? – because the membership is currently nowhere NEAR the action, both sides bitch and moan, moan and bitch, as the union goes straight to hell.
The “moderates” are acting reprehensibly, day in and day out. Indefensible. They are so shocked by the AMPTP’s terms – “oh, and – no retro-activity” that even THEY can’t make a deal.
What do they do? Nothing. Send out an SAV and let the membership decide? No. Richard Masur wants to decide.
And the membership drifts, uninformed, powerless, victimized by two political blood rivalries, neither of which can deliver a fair contract, and neither of which has ANY tangible plan for one.
We cannot get live streaming of all meetings and the electronic vote instituted fast enough. Give the power back where it belongs – the membership.
Any attempt to block that is an attempt to take way the already seriously eroded rights of SAG members.
As our National govt.has representation so does SAG. The representation is by the numbers, therefore, Hollywood has more representation on the National Board because they have more members. Get the facts right.
Get The Facts- Hollywood has greater representation because they have more members. National Board representation is based on the number of members from each division.
Some states and countries have tax incentives and subsidies between 30-50% which have attracted a good many productions away from California to ‘friendlier’ locations inside and outside of the the U.S.A.
At long last, however, CA has passed it’s own tax incentive called the “Ugly Betty Bill.” It’s an attempt to bring production back to CA. Apparently, our legislators, FINALLY, ‘got it’ AFTER Ugly Betty left to film in New York. Hopefully, this will help keep new productions at home and/or bring others back that have been lured away.
What’s really puzzling is that SAG would add costly ground troops in the Branches. In the past, this might have meant SAG was preparing for a strike. But, under the new SAG majority, that may be highly improbable; especially since U4S seem so strongly united against one.
