This was one of the funniest episodes in a long while for this show. Thanks Matt and Trey for having the guts to accurately represent Disney’s shameless exploitation of tweens. All I ask is that we please have an episode where Radiohead comes back on for an episode to completely dis the schizo Hannah MonCyrus in public to her face instead of just denying her entrance into their dressing room. I’m thinking it’s time to combine Scott Tenerman must Die with last nights episode.
“Hannah, you’re about the uncoolest kid we’ve ever met.”
brilliant, about time, etc etc
now how about pinning lou perlman, britney, xtina, lindsay and the twinklord zac on that twisted, perverted cult, i mean, company?
I’m done with this network. I can’t believe the mighty Jon Stewart has the nerve to attack Jim Cramer and he completely forgets that he called this whole thing. Does anybody remember his “they know nothing” rant? Of coarse not. Jon Stewart is a fucking moron and his “crack comedy staff” forgot to do their research, once again. Naturally they show only what they want to show to portray Cramer as the idiot and COMEDIAN Jon Stewart as the genius. I’d love to see Stewart tell us where to invest our money. I bet we’d all be bankrupt by Friday.
First John Stewart is a COMEDIAN. He is not a financial advisor. We would not all be bankrupt by friday because only… you, obviously would take the financial advise of a comedian to heart. His job is to portray media figures in a satirical manner that makes us laugh. They did not portray Cramer as an idiot, he did that all by himself. The fact that he was so offended by a comedian journalist to actually form a rebuttle and come on the show illustrates that Cramer has the maturity of a Jonas Brother concert goer. Not even Kanye West went as far as Cramer when South Park attacked him. And according to Joseph a few posts down, apparently Cramer’s advice is not that good. Hey, Joseph, when gambling, if someone gives a bad tip over and over again, you stop taking the tip. Oh and by the way, Joseph, near the end there, what the hell are you talking about? Did you forget what you were doing half way through the post? No wait, you were buying stock off another tip from Cramer, weren’t you?
Hilarious!!!
They need to do one where The Mouse kicks the shit out of Hanna Montanna when she complanes about working on a AFTRA contract with their residual free windows.
I thought this was hilarious. I am a Disney stock owner (20 shares) and I love the company to death, but I can’t stand the Jonas Brothers or their music. At first I thought the episode was going to attack the whole ‘purity ring’ issue, but I am glad they stuck with the company’s exploitation.
And I agree that Jon Stewart needs to get off his soap box. He’s nothing but a shill. He and other naive economic illiterates need to learn there is no such thing as a free lunch and that investing in stocks is just a risking as any other form of gambling. Morons who put their entire life’s savings into a single company like AIG because a guy like Cramer told them to deserves to lose their life’s savings. I took Cramer’s advice a couple of times (buying small amounts of stock in companies he suggested) and I lost money on every single one of them. But I accept responsibility for that. I don’t blame him (he states what he BELIEVES the market will do, not what it WILL do) or anybody else. The regulations and political red tape Stewart is calling for is what helped cause the situation we are in now and was the same disease that help continue the Great Depression. Honestly, people have no concept of history.
And you wonder why viewer numbers are in the toilet with morally and ethically bankrupt shows like South Park.
Well we all know who Mickey really is representing (*cough* Iger *cough*).
The entrance of “Mr. Mouse” was a laugh-out-louder. Parker and Stone may be a little inconsistent (which is understandable given their creative work load), but when they are on, they may be best satirists in the U.S.
I own Disney stock and wish the liberal Jews who run the company would release “Song of the South” on DVD already. Being liberal Jews, they won’t–unless maybe they have a REALLY bad quarter.
Anyone who watched five seconds of Jim Cramer’s show and took his advice deserves to lose all their money. I’m sure supercilious ass face Stewart carved him up…but where’s the challenge in demolishing a clown?
South Park’s #’s are bigger than ever, TJ.
A BRILLIANT episode. One of the best in years.
Sexualizing little girls? Does Hollywood have no shame?
This is why I home-school my children and teach them the Word of the Lord our Father and Saviour!
As a kid growing up in Florida, I got a vague sense of the evil that is the Disney Corp. Be it their creepy city, Celebration, their underground detention center, or their own tax incorportated district outside Kissimee. As I got older and worked freelance for the “Rat,” my impression only got worse. Once again, thanks Matt and Trey for being the only show to have the balls to take on the 800 pound gorillas! And if you get a chance, pick up Carl Hiaassen’s essay “Team Rodent” on the subject of the transgression’s of the “Rat.”
Awesome.
Good riddance to the Disney whore-making machine!
I thought this was the best SP season premiere in a long time. And I actually am pleasantly surprised to see Disney not do anything yet regarding this episode. I mean if they didn’t bat an eye when Family Guy and the Simpsons Movie poked fun at Mickey, then I dont see Disney doing anything here.
I see the Drudgereport wingnuts are back.
Sorry to dissapoint you, but South Park numbers aren’t “in the toilet.”
As for Jim Cramer, it really didn’t take Stewart’s “crack comedy team” to make him look like an idiot.
The financial media on the economic crisis was no different from the Washington media on Iraq.
Where the fuck is this thread going?! What does Cramer have to do with it? Oh, Jon Stewart and South Park are both on the same channel, so let’s dump on Stewart? How douchebaggie is that? Hey, they both breathe air, and so does Barak Obama, so…let’s lay into Obama! God, what dolts! BTW, Cramer is a lunatic of extremely shady orgins. Finally, that was one of the greatest South Parks ever. And WDC is so big, so powerful that they know they can take it on the chin because that’s what happens to the big boys in the game. Then they bounce back. And I am positive some of them get a private giggle out of it. TJ, it’s your head that’s bankrupt. Go back to chasing hearses on your ten speed.
Hey TJ,
South Park had its best March premiere ratings ever on Wednesday, so viewer numbers are NOT in the toilet.
Yes, you probably would be broke if you invested where Jon Stewart told you to. That’s why he doesn’t give investment advice – he’s not an expert and doesn’t claim to be. Cramer DOES claim to be, and the network literally touts him as a trustworthy source of investing advice, which he’s not. That’s the point Stewart is making. People like Cramer sell bullsh*t pie-in-the-sky myths about average folks making a fortune playing the market. It’s irresponsible.
I hate Disney. There is nothing for my 18 month old daughter on that channel. We watch “Yo Gabba Gabba” on Noggin, and Curious George and Clifford on PBS.
No way my kid is turning into a ‘prostitot’. Thanks a lot, Disney. Thanks for pushing bare midriffs and nail polish to five year olds. Some family values.
To the “Post my Comments” rant about Cramer:
Funny you take this stance when Cramer himself said “You’re right” to Stewart over and over and came off like a sniveling coward. I guess none of those clips showing Cramer basically swindling the average American stock trader sunk in.
And South Park was brilliant! I couldn’t decide whether Mickey was standing in for Eisner, Ovitz or Sparky although it mouthed perfectly the sentiments of Roy Disney and the rest of that winger Orange County family.
come on, TJ. south park will be looked on historically as one of the principle cultural thermometers and critics of the 21st century. yes, i said historically. if moral and ethical shows are the way to go, show me the proof in profits. yet, there are none…
also, how are people taking this opportunity to rail against jon stewart? he (and his writers) called someone out on their dangerous BS and irresponsible-stock-hype machine. ultimately, what many critics fail to see about stewart is that he willingly acknowledges his status as a lowly comedian and cable TV show host, yet simply by saying “wait? what?” seems like one of the more responsible “journalists” on TV.
Anyone defending CNBC or Cramer is simply wrong. They are shamelessly bullish, have no credibility AT ALL and know that it is a fools errand to try and pick stocks, especially for someone whose information is coming from CNBC. Yet they shill and shill and shill without shame. The most amazing thing about CNBC is that guys like Cramer and Kudlow, who have zero credibility, continue to show up and give opinions. That takes a large pair/being totally delusional. Further, CNBC portrays itself as a news organization but maintains no such standards, being totally bullish to the point of mocking anyone who questions that markets only go up.
The point is, NONE OF THE SO CALLED EXPERTS KNOW ANYTHING, Cramer included, (and Paulsen, and Geitner, and Bernanke…) but CNBC has a dangerous reach into both the finance community and homes of America and irresponsibly portrays that they have some idea what’s going on and going to happen instead of delivering news and information. And too many people foolishly believe them.
Oh, and thank the good Lord for South Park. They’re providing checks and balances for society… JUST LIKE JON STEWART. (see how I tied that all together!)
No, we wonder why America has become so dumb with morally and ethically bankrupt commentators like TJ.
He and other naive economic illiterates need to learn there is no such thing as a free lunch and that investing in stocks is just a risking as any other form of gambling.
Wow every Objectivist in Hollywood has now posted to this thread, it would appear. I didn’t see Stewart at any time attack the concept of losing money on stocks, he called Jim Cramer out as a charlatan, because that’s what he is. It’s one thing to give bad investment advice, but it’s sortof another to give bad investment advice, and call it journalism. I think “people are going to lose money on investments” is a separate point from “CNBC is a scam,” and both can be equally right with no logical defect.
CNBC is essentially the TMZ of the business world, trading in gossip and celebrity culture, and when someone dares to point out that it’s all a sham it’s remarkable how the entire GE organization has a collective freakout and goes on the warpath to assert, “no, our bullshit stock-pumping CEO fluffing masquerading as news is too relevant!.” Except when it’s wrong, which happens to be all the time. CNBC wouldn’t have a problem if it just stuck to the facts and told people what went on in the business world that day, but it’s much more effective to push people’s greed buttons. The people watching are responsible, of course. if they lose money, but the result, and Stewart’s point, clearly, is that this ain’t “news,” it’s basically entertainment programming, having as much information value as a TV psychic. It’s probably important to point this out, because a lot of people lately seem to be confused on the issue.
It’s remarkable how, given this and the latest South Park, the comedy nowadays is so issue-oriented, but what they both are doing isn’t much different from Voltaire writing about an auto da fe in Lisbon.
