Here's more evidence that it's New Media now and not later. Today, 3 Time Warner companies -- Turner Broadcasting System, Warner Bros Entertainment, and HBO -- announced a "strategic alliance to foster collaboration on the development of next generation video and rich media experiences". As part of the alliance, "these companies will also collaborate to accelerate the development of digital rights management for the Web and desktop, and metadata and audience measurement solutions to improve the discovery and monetization of content. The companies intend to utilize Adobe Flash Platform and video solutions to provide differentiated experiences for consumers of HBO, Turner Broadcasting and Warner Bros Entertainment content across multiple distribution platforms". What a joke if anybody waits 3 years for Big Media to get its New Media act together.

“What a joke if anybody waits 3 years for Big Media to get its New Media act together.” Perfectly put, Nikki. Not to mention StOopId.
This is rather bad news. Adobe may be selling plenty of software, but its products are not without their problems. Among other things, to quote one of my colleagues:
Flash isn’t just a hog on OS X. It’s equally garbage on Linux. The system resources and CPU percentage it sucks out of a system are ludicrous.
“New Media” will end up as Old Media on New Media!
Weren’t they saying they were going to do all these wonderful things when they merged with AOL?
“How did that work out for them?” he asked with a mockingly ironic tone.
“But there’s no money in New Media!”
Fucking LIARS.
The giants take big steps (albeit sometimes in the wrong direction). It may be the first step but sooner or later, and it will probably be sooner, its going to gain momentum. It took them long to get into “independent” film, then they just undermined all the labor and bought the biggest “indy studios”. I have no doubt that the “system” will not only partake in New media they may very well become the biggest players!
I’m still looking for my payments from the “Old Media!”
