I checked and it appears to be on the level. Magnamedia Casting Agency — based in New York, Beverly Hills, and London — announced today the addition of a new and specialised division called Senior Stars for “mature, name talent” for films, television, legitimate theatre, commercials, PSAs, infomercials, print, and personal appearances. According to Magnamedia’s Casting Executive Peter Hyde Sr, the group represented are all seasoned and known performers and entertainment industry professionals above age 55. “We fill that niche with great talent — names and faces you knew back when; personalities who filled casting needs extremely well but whose current agents don’t expend the effort required to keep those actor-clients on the money trail.” The news release suggested that senior A and B listers or their agents can sign in with Magnamedia, let it do the work of submission, reading appointments, and calls, and then if an offer is made, the original agency can negotiate and book.

They are smart, this won’t be a niche market in 3 decades
I say great! I’m so tired of seeing tweens on tv shows, in movies, etc. It seems the only solid actors over the age of 45 are in theater now or doing Activa commercials.
Doesn’t hollywood know that the boomers are AGING? The best movie I saw was Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson in that romantic comedy.
Bring on the older people! They still have skills and timing.
Dan Akroyd, Sam Sheppard, etc.
Was Magnamedia formerly known as CBS?
Maybe they’ll get Gene Hackman and Sean Connery a good role so we can go see a good film again! Most of the stuff out there is under 35 copycat crap!
Just Kidding — you are probably thinking of Metromedia [Strauss Broadcasting back in the heyday of WOR radio and Jean Shepherd.
Anonymous — one of our specialists did try very hard to get Sean Connery to do even a cameo in the last “Indiana Jones” film but Mr. Connery, it seems, has gracefully retired. We do thank him for all the good work he has done — as Bond and as so many other characters. What Mr. Connery may not know is that one of our writing assistants, a young man named Brandon Tate, a Cerebral Palsy patient, was inspired by Mr. Connery’s dedication to craft and humanity to fight hard against the effects of CP. Mr. Tate is a fine, strapping, intelligent young man who can type faster with one hand than most of us could with two.
Anonymous, I am sure Sean Connery is very much aware that his fans miss him and appreciate his past work.
The Boomer and Gen-Xers are the largest block of the population in many countries — the USA, UK, and Canada include. Yes, 0ver-55ers are being shunted aside but we refuse to let our talented seniors fade quietly into oblivion. If you want more mature, more intelligent films and shows, email and write to the Hollywood Big Six and let them know how left out you feel and how much senior money they are losing out on.
How many times can it be said? There is no such thing as a “casting agency” or a casting “agent”??? There are only “casting companies” and “casting directors”. Agents, or rather, talent agents, are an entirely separate thing. It’s a casting director or a casting company. Period. Sorry, it’s just a huge pet peeve for me.
why can’t i find a web site for magnamedia?
Wow, check out their website.
