The rumor mill is filled with names of people who supposedly have been let go at Endeavor. Yes, I can confirm that some agents were called in and asked to “step it up”. They’ve not been told to leave yet. But they’re out looking for other gigs.

What is the meaning of “step it up” in that context? Like take one for the team? I don’t get it.
It means, “you better sign some money-making clients quick, or get some of the clients you already service into some profitable deals. You’re costing us more than you’re worth.”
The bottom line speaks loudest.
Oh thats so sweet…”hey man, you have 6 days before the merger is final to step it up”
Another way of saying “You were put in the computer and found wanting”!
I think they mean “step it up” as in start giving me a reason not to let you go.
No. Take “one for the team” means “take one for the team.”
Step it up means, work harder and do and be more productive. Bring in work for the clients and thus money for the agency. Don’t be dead weight.
“Step It Up” as in bring more money in, get more clients jobs, work harder if you want to keep your job.
It means perfect your dance routine, and really stick it to the competing team in a dramatic showdown clothed in a sumptuous visual feast, with a truly beautiful love story threaded throughout 2 hours of non-stop dancing action.
“step it up” means your on the hot seat, so hustle. Less sucking and more succeeding, before you’re EDDing.
my question is with all the rumors for the past few months, how did you not step it up already? who is just sitting around and slacking off. if you didn’t step it up already, may as well pack your stuff and find new work.
That’s the nature of the agency biz. I don’t wish anyone to be let go but they knew what they were signing up for when they became agents. If you want stability, then get a tenured teaching job. And even that means crap nowadays.
@Duane Adler — Best. Comment. Ever. Fosho.
It means that STEP UP 3:D is gonna be co-financed by William-Endeavor and it’s gonna be dope.
“Step it up” means the partners are being taken care of first and foremost, THE priority.
“Step it up” means if we can’t take you with us they can say – didn’t we tell you to step it up? And you didn’t. Bye bye.
“Step it up” means get your game face on if you get to WMA in order to to take down pre-existing Morris agents in a takedown turf war. Prove yourself.
“Step it up” means if the deal doesn’t go through – WE NEED DOUGH!
All of the above probably.
Both William Morris and Endeavor in New York are going to be a blood bath. Morris – unwieldy and unproductive size. Endeavor – nondescript vanity operation save for a few actors.
It’s either step it up or step it up 2 the streets.
“Step it up” means “we’re getting someone better from WMA – but since we’re warning you now, when we fire you it’s not because of that it’s because you were lazy and didn’t step it up when we told you to. We warned you, see?” It’s a completely disingenuous warning – all these guys are already gone. No amount of “stepping it up” other than a lucky hail mary miracle, which isn’t going to happen, is going to save any positions. Management knows this – the agents know this. This is just so management doesn’t have to feel like assholes when they do fire them.
step it up means “you don’t have to go home but get the hell out of here.”
“Step it up” means that legally in order to fire someone for cause you have to have recorded in personnel files that they have been given a warning about their performance. A “Step it up” meeting is an HR CYA that is designed to prevent lawsuits for unfair termination and maybe prevent having to pay out contracts, bonuses, commissions, etc. They’re clearing the decks, legally speaking.
Last week on The Office Jim didn’t know what a rundown was. He better step it up so he can do the rundown of his clients for that mean new boss.
some agents at Endeavor WERE fired today. mine was.
Step it up means….Dance Fight!! No rules, straight street! You just got served!
Derek,
Can you name names?
Derek,
is that your real name?
I can’t think of any assts with that name at Endeavor.
The Endeavor MP Lit Department is about as bad as you can get… There are a few amazing partners with great clients, but many of the agents suck and are rude bad people. They should be let go, but will be saved due to politics and weird “friendships”
you know what i am talking about. It seems the nice and normal agents seem to be getting fired….

Jack,
I could not have phrased it better myself. Endeavor is a particularly horrible place.
