United Talent and its motion picture lit agent Adam Weinstein are parting company. I don’t get it: this kid was Jeremy Zimmer’s assistant and is a junior agent who has been intensely loyal to the UTA mo-pic chief. Disappointing.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I really hope this isn’t true. He’s a great agent.
Adam’s a good kid. Hope he lands on his feet.
A true loss. Worked with Adam several times and he’s smart, hardworking and a real class act. He’ll resurface and do big things. Bet on it!
UTA does not have to make room.
They need all the help they can get.
Adam is amazing. I’m rooting for him.
One of the smartest young agents I know. Have NO DOUBT he’ll land somewhere FAST.
Adam has been my agent for over a year, and I’m completely shocked to read this news. First, he has always done right by me; I’m unproduced at this point, but Adam has gotten me great meetings, fought for me when things were getting stupid between producing entitites, and before the strike was close to closing 2 deals. He’s fought smartly for better terms on a spec sale. He’s had terrific notes on both pitches and scripts. And every time I meet someone from a studio or a production company, they have only great things to say about Adam (as evidenced by the comments on this post). This is a flat-out dumbass short-sighted decision by the powers that be at United To Alienate.
Adam Weinstein is one of the brightest and most talented agents at UTA. He’ll do great anywhere…their loss. Whatever.
nikki. don’t know this adam guy, but he and his buddies have clearly spammed your site with love mail.
Weinstein is the greatest. No question about it.
Yes. I’ve had sex with Adam Weinstein and he is truly the greatest fuck in Hollywood.
Writer of Wrongs – Adam may, or may not, be the greatest agent of all time but it’s clear that he certainly has the ability and resources to manage spin.
Adam, If you are reading this, you are a rock star and they are making a big mistake.
I don’t know Adam Weinstein, but if he’s as nice and decent as most of the comments here indicate, this news should not come as a shock. Intrinsically good people don’t usually fare well in agency culture. Those who aren’t willing to eat their own young are passed over for those who are…
What a foolish decision. Adam is as good as it gets — a simply fantastic lit covering agent. CAA should snap him up.
What a foolish decision on UTA’s part. Adam is as good as it gets– the best lit covering agent I deal with on a daily basis. CAA should snap him up.
Of course, writer of wrongs has to come in and be a jerk. Why would anyone in Hollywood be deserving of praise and compassion, right? I forgot, the only appropriate response is to be venomous on this site. If someone isn’t being lambasted something must be wrong in the world…
Adam is a good guy and the world needs more people like him, as opposed to the other kind…the ones who go on blogs, hide their identity and get off on being either pathetic sycophants or mean spirited losers who didn’t make it.
This kid was truly top shelf. Major blunder by UTA. And to do it in this environment is soooo shitty. They’ll be rueing the day soon enough.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Adam for a couple of years now and my experiences couldn’t have been better. I’m on the buyer side of the business and he’s far and away the easiest agent to deal with. He cuts through the bullshit, is incredibly helpful in all situations, has a brain of his own, and isn’t just a robot in a suit. Keep your head up Adam, no doubt you’ll find something soon.
What a mistake by UTA. Adam’s lucky to be out of that lousy place.
Are you guys kidding?? Adam is easily one of the worst agents in town. He doesn’t return calls- from clients and sometimes studios. He has a terrible ego and has left several of his writers in the dark. Good riddance. UTA did the right thing- both financially and morally.
Adam doesn’t cover my studio but I turn to him anyway. He’s a hustler, has a great sense of humor and I’ve always respected him. Go to Gersh, AW.
Hey “AJ,” ironically your post is pretty venomous, and doesn’t bear your full name.
Please – Adam might be a decent guy in a pit of vipers, but he’s not Mother Teresa. He was like most of the wannabe Young Turks; he talked a good game and sometimes delivered (in the way a broken clock is right twice a day). Comparing him to the likes of Bill Zotti is probably about right; as it’s amazing he’s still employed by a major agency (as everytime I check, he’s in a different department doing a whole lot of nothing). Zimmer did what he had to do — trim the fat and keep a spot open for an agent who will actually pull his own weight and bring in business instead of just doing everyone’s grunt work.
I’ve never seen a firing of a junior agent elicit this level of response. He’s either really good or really good at getting his friends to post. BUT, if you have that many friends in this town, willing to post, you must have not screwed over too many people, so kudos. This whole thread is like a rorschact of Hollywood morality. Keep it going! Team Weinstein? Team Zimmer? Let’s print T-shirts.
