Today at noon Universal released the Bruno trailer. For the rest of the day, the traffic to see it overwhelmed MySpace to the point that the link stopped working. And that was without any publicity, advance or otherwise. Not even the lame age requirement stopped Sacha Baron Cohen’s multitudes of fans. (The studio told me it couldn’t make a “green band” trailer suitable for everyone to view because of all the “red band” dirty scenes it had to work with. What b.s.)

Age requirement was hassle but trailer was definitely worth the time!
The trailer was having trouble loading for awhile, presumably because it was getting a ton of hits. As for the age requirement? It’s become pretty standard since the Apatow led success of red bands. What other choice do they have? Of course they could have made a green band, and they surely will. But red bands are attention getters… Personally I like them, and they certainly have done well for the comedies that have embraced them.

Had enough with all the silly bro-comedies out past year with the likes of I love U, Man, Role Models, etc..same old plot recycle with same cast.

It looks funny, yes, but I think they need to keep the whole thing non-scripted because there are parts where they are hiring day players and extras and that kinda takes from it’s whole shock appeal. Also, the consent forms, as I understand it, are so full of legalise, you’d need a supreme court justice to interpret it. He really is funny, but some people do get emotionally hurt in the making of these. So the word of caution is to just be on the lookout for this cat and don’t get yourself into anything that sounds fishy.
But it’s always fun to laugh at someone else’s expense.

I saw Bruno last night at a test screening in Sherman Oaks. It was way darker and funnier than Borat, and I’m a huge fan of that movie. The crowd was in hysterics throughout.
I want Bruno. Now.
