  • Jeesuz… new Anti-Terrorist method. Have Miley in a room talking to the terrorists. They’ll spill their guts in about 5 mins, I betcha.

  • Wait…isn’t this a clip from EDTV?

Comment by Peterson-Jones — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 2:13am PST  Reply to this post
  • I thiought it was normal late night stuff…It looked fun to me. Why wouild you call it “desperate”..

Comment by Chuck Dunaway — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 4:28am PST  Reply to this post
  • Get over yourself and your vapid little click of overpaid dilettantes who’re steaming over the loss of the 10pm hour on NBC.

Comment by Adi — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 6:52am PST  Reply to this post
  • i know you love your Dave but there’s a reason Leno consistently beats him in the ratings. He understands that there is life between the 310 and 212

Comment by elliott — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 10:03am PST  Reply to this post
  • This looks like regular Late Night stuff to me. Didn’t Letterman do a segment last week where he competed w/ the grocery bagging champion? It’s not desperate as much as it’s vaguely goofy.

In the clip you have of Leno, he accomplishes his most important task: the audience gets to see a non-junket interview version of the star. Does he look cool doing it? No. But Jay’s not cool, he’s sweet. That’s why his audience likes him.

Comment by tammanycall — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 10:36am PST  Reply to this post
  • C’mon Nikki, this isn’t so bad. These comedy shows are filled with failed gags – this one at least has a mega-star. Quit picking on Leno.

Comment by B Real — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 10:55am PST  Reply to this post
  • Or… maybe it was just lame, Adi.

Comment by Anonymous — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 11:02am PST  Reply to this post
  • Wow…I still can’t believe they are tossing 10pm to this…only I can…

No wonder FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is the only show I watch on NBC…and they don’t know how to treat it.

Comment by Jake — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 12:12pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Destiny Hope, Jay? Really?

When are her 15 minutes going to be up already?

Comment by Nanea — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 12:58pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Appalling. Everything about that clip is what makes the show unwatchable. Right down to Jay’s bad acting, “You want me to learn it?” as if this hadn’t been painfully planned all along.

And this is what NBC wants going up against CSI?

Comment by Sitcom Writer — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 2:05pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Hey “Adi” aka Leno associate – the word is “clique.” If nothing else, the Leno clique is consistent in its illiteracy.

Comment by Lowest common denominator — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 2:10pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Jay looked stupid with Obama but this tops it. His writers are killing him. Jokes are stale and the Man in the Street is dumber than the people he has on. His liberal guests are just not funny when they critize our coundtry.

    Arthur, LV

Comment by Arthur — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 2:51pm PST  Reply to this post
  • why is that desperate? it’s just a show. and a way better one than people give it credit for. have you ever watched kimmel? it’s way more torturous.

Comment by hal — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 3:56pm PST  Reply to this post
  • I’ve thought Jay Leno is awful for a long time, but I’m not understanding what merits this clip to be singled out. It seems like a perfectly normal thing to do with a guest like that. This is a man who had dancing Judge Itos on his stage so this is no cause for embarrassment.

Comment by LenoisLame — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 4:54pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Desperate? NBC just gave him five hours of its Prime Time real estate. Jay continues to laugh his way to the bank, and your attempt at snark is just sad and pathetic…

Comment by rr — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 6:25pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Reason Jay is @1 for all this time at 11:30., when he has on someone from FOX Cable,or any other network, He doesn’t attack them like Dave does. At 11:30 at night, WE want to sit back, laugh at what IS FUNNY, Jay does that. I think this clip just shows Jay being one of us. Dave stopped being one of us about two Presidents ago. Maybe even 3. Sorry when Jay moves to 10, so will I.. Can’t wait. If any local stations know whats best for their ratings, then they will have Jay on at 10. Mr C.O can take over at 11:30 and have fun and will still beat Dave. He is way more funny then Dave.

Comment by comedykid — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 9:24pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Jay Leno could spend an hour each night reading names out of the Rochester, MN phone book, and he’d still kick Letterman’s ass. Dave is done.

Comment by John The Baptist — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 9:33pm PST  Reply to this post
  • I dont’ see the big deal about this. Miley might be annoying, but she’s got a movie to pimp, and that’s what Jay, Dave and the rest do, they have celebs on to pimp their movies, music, or economic plans. That’s their job. And as much as I don’t want to hear anyting from Miley Cirus (I’m in a different demo), I’d rather watch her than flip over to Jimmy Kimmel who that night was talking with Ben Affleck about their “torrid love affir” and triangle with Ben’s wife — a joke that I assumed died the first time Jimmy and Sarah Silverman broke up.

Comment by Anonymous — Saturday April 4, 2009 @ 10:04pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Kimmel has about 2 more months on the air. By the end of June and the NBA season it’ll be bye bye Jimmy. Meanwhile, Leno will do very well at 10pm and Boston will undoubtedly come back.

  • After the bashing you gave the Oscars, I’m starting to think you have a problem against dancing…

Comment by Un Francais a Hollywood — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 1:42am PST  Reply to this post
  • i can not imagine how bored shitless jay and dave must be with having to do those nightly shows year after year. even after all their success they still have to show up for the fucking things. no matter how stale you think the shows are, i would bet they’re ALOT more stale to jay and dave.

  • When did MC become a giantess? She has the carriage of a race horse.

    Look out Uma!

Comment by harkin — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 8:31am PST  Reply to this post
  • I don’t think Jay Leno is desperate. NBC is. Washed up has-been David Letterman is. Jay Leno? He’s number 1.

It’s not a program that I ever watch, but if I was forced at gunpoint to choose between him and the very bitter and angry David Letterman spewing his liberal bile, I’d take Leno.

Miley Cyrus is obnoxious. Make it go away.

Comment by paul — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 9:11am PST  Reply to this post
  • Not only is Leno desperate and unfunny, not only did he kiss Obama’s ass shamelessly, but all WGA members must never forget that Leno is a back-stabbing SCAB!

Comment by StickingWithMyUnion — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 9:49am PST  Reply to this post
  • Jay is #1. TV is a ratings game. There should be more shows like Jay’s Tonight Show.

Comment by Jimmy Cliff — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 1:05pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Nikki – whats with the ‘desperate’ tag? Leno is quick and funny – and doesn’t take himself too seriously…unlike say..Bill Maher. (Who I also like.) I’ll tune in at 10.

Comment by Tom Storm — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 6:03pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Kudos to Sticking With My Union above…a short little piece of history for your Drudgers. The NBC P.R. flacks who are peppering this comment section can also take note.

Once upon a time, in February, 2008, Jay Leno had a chance to be loyal to his WGA comrades. Instead he chose to break ranks with his own union, cross the picket line and return to work. We have people on here who are not in the WGA, who are not in show business, and that’s great. Everyone, in any line of work, can understand disloyalty.

Leno betrayed his comrades when they most needed him. He’s a scab. No matter if you’re a Republican, Democrat, Socialist or Vulcan, Jay Leno is not good, and his show must never, ever be supported. The fact that show sucks is beside the point.

Comment by Jason Quick — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 9:51pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Jay Leno is a scab.

Comment by NeverForget — Sunday April 5, 2009 @ 11:41pm PST  Reply to this post
  • The Hokey Pokey? Well, that’s exactly the kind of hip, fresh reference that I’ve come to expect from Jay Leno. And to all the defenders out there, at least admit he’s still the worst interviewer on TV. Seriously, how many years on the air and he’s still awful at talking to people.

Comment by Vince — Monday April 6, 2009 @ 11:31am PST  Reply to this post
  • I rarely watch either Letterman or Leno but I did happen to see this bit when it was broadcast and I thought it was a pretty gracious gesture on Leno’s part.

It didn’t seem pre-arranged to me.

Comparing Leno and Letterman, I would find Leno much more watchable.

But hey, I’m an old buzzard. I remember Carson and the original Saturday Night Live ensemble. The new talent today (writers) is just weak.

Comment by Al Bergette — Monday April 6, 2009 @ 5:54pm PST  Reply to this post
  • Look at all the unregistered users swarming here to defend Leno and bash Dave pretending they aren’t Leno’s writers defending their bad writing.

So Kansas likes Leno, that’s the defense? Makes me feel better about myself for loathing him. I can’t watch two minutes of that show it’s so painfully unfunny and awkward. Anyone who likes him has to be a nitwit.

  • Painful, fake, LCD so-called “entertainment” for morons. I’m sure Jeff Zucker liked it.

Comment by Longtime Observer, Now Removed — Wednesday April 8, 2009 @ 5:36am PST  Reply to this post
  • This is exactly the kind of smart, edgy entertainment that is synonomous with Jeff Zucker’s NBC
