There’s so much other news that I’m getting off the subject of agents for the next 24 hours. But Endeavor seems to be sensitive to any implication that a) a rash of recent client departures are related to the merger with William Morris, or b) there’s a wholesale exodus out of Endeavor, or c) it wanted to keep those clients. (“They didn’t meet the profile we want to have,” an insider tells me.) So here is Endeavor’s spin: Jason Patric hadn’t been a client of the agency’s since March. Mira Sorvina and Alexander Skarsgard had been clients of Daisy Wu, who was let go by Endeavor. The agency terminated the relationship with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Endeavor maintains it never repped author Mary Higgins Clark despite CAA’s claim.

OOHHH
That explains everything… *cough cough*
God, if we could just harness the power from that spinning, we could light the Staples Center for a month. The first three I can almost understand, but Rhys-Meyers still has blood to be squeezed out of him (as long as he stays sober) so it’s amazing if they let him go.
I don’t work in the entertainment industry so maybe I shouldn’t be here but I don’t understand why any woman would want an agent who works at a place where they roll their eyes and make nasty comments about an actress who has had a very successful career. If that is how they treat women who are successful imagine what they’re saying about you when you’re not.
Also AE decided to keep JWR instead of Abate although that isn’t surprising because she doesn’t have any integrity and he doesn’t either.
Use whatever spin you want, the bottom line is “client exodus”.
I wouldn’t believe the Endeavor spin. Rhys Meyers’ former agent had a change in circumstances and he’s gone on to a better agent — every client she touches turns to Oscar gold. He’s a talented guy and if he works hard he’ll be more than fine.
I think JRM is a good actor who needs better roles. There is something about him that is interesting – maybe it’s his eyes. I probably shouldn’t say this but actors trained in other countries seem better than ours.I can’t handle Brad Pitt in another movie – his performances are bland and there isn’t anything behind his eyes.
@Outsider is so right on about Pitt. It is heartbreaking that some really choice properties have been wasted on him. Couldn’t even bear to watch Buttons for free. Does he keep getting these roles because he’s pals with the execs like Clooney? Audiences don’t care if an actor is “known.” Just that the performance is interesting. When will they realize that. Maybe more movies would get made with lesser known performers rather than dumping a truckload of money on one or two boring overused ones.
sounds like the comment by ‘outsider’ is Tyra Banks
Hilarious, Leland.
So, assuming the spin might be at least partly true, why did they get rid of Rhys Meyers? Can’t be because he drinks, half the town would be booted. What’s the skinny?
The most powerful disease we face as humans is the need to be right….
The spin isn’t correct relative to JRM. He moved on and the deal was set over three months ago
