I’m so sad to see them go. They were a million times funnier than SNL. But I rarely watched them. I always forgot that they were on. I’d turn to SNL just because I’ve watched it since the beginning. But SNL was rarely laugh out loud funny. Only during certain spurts like the early ’70’s and during Eddie Murphy’s reign.
I had this fantasy that the MAD TV writers would go to NYC and ambush the SNL writers one night and slip their own jokes into the show. Then I could laugh at SNL again.
14 seasons and not a funny sketch to boot…
That Ladies and Gentleman, is what you define as a successful Hollywood run.
Fourteen seasons (half spent in the age of the viral video) and I can’t recall a single sketch or break out character.
Not a hater, but yeesh…
omg i thought this went off the air LAST Fall. shoot, i need to rewind and catch who all they skewered THIS season. Thanks Nikki
Peggy, if SNL was funny during the early ’70s, are you saying it was funny for 2-3 years before it went on the air?
