Who’s fooling who? Jim Wiatt was sitting at one end of those coveted Endeavor seats adjacent to the Lakers bench at tonight’s game with Patrich Whitesell at the other end (next to Les Moonves). Ari Emanuel was across town at that fundraising dinner with President Obama attended by Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen.

They were with les moonves (Patrick’s “date”) and Wiatt was with Antoine Fuqua I believe. Most of the game they were as far apart from each other as possible (e.g. the end seats in the quartet) and very little interaction.
It was clearly intended to be a “statement” but from the body language it’s pretty clear Wiatt is a goner.
That putz will be working the perks until they push him and his fat $25 million out the door. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Adios, MoFo.
Let me guess, Nikki, you heard this from someone at WMA. Jim Wiatt wants the town to think he’s happy with this arrangement. He’s not. His wife is not. But he cares more about appearance than anything else. Jimbo – you dismatled a legacy. That my friend will be yours.
There isn’t a person ALIVE who thinks you wanted this. Stop kidding yourself. Or continue. It’s all rather irrelevant.
Malocchio is not disputable.
It is what it is.
Mr Wiatt move on out of the entertainment world. Not even Christian Muirhead could put the proper spin on your story. You are telling anyone that will listen that you are happy with what has taken place. Come on Jim, you were played like a fiddle, Ari and the boys took over William Morris for very of little its actual value. Yes Jim, you and Irv received nice golden parachutes, But how can you live with the fact that many people, with families lost their jobs. Oh thats right you and Irv could care less. Dave, do you really believe that anyone truly believes your are relevant in this company. Dave you are a music agent with a few director clients. The days of you pushing your clients like they are academy award winner are over. Dave it would be best if you step aside and finally spend full time in New Zealand. Final word to Jimbo, someone mentioned you should start spending time with Mike Ovitz. Mike Ovitz is and was a genius in this business that just lets his ego get the best of him. Jim you don’t have a genius bone in your body.

Endeavor has 4 Laker Tickets
Think they are 2800 ea for regular season. 41 home games. 2800 x 4 x 41 = $459,000
But wait there’s more..
Playoffs are more expensive. I think $4500 per ticket. Assume Lakers make it through the Playoffs and into the Finals. 4 Rounds averaging 3 home games per round. 12 games x 4 tickets x 4500.00 = $216,000
Regular Season 459k + Post Season 216k.
Therefore Endeavor …er… WME spends $675,000 on LAKERS tix this year.
Someone has to be writing a serious piece about this huge betrayal. It really is mindboggling, whatever you think of the players; that one of the architects of this marriage is booted right after the deal is closed. Have there been any other examples of this kind of betrayal? I’d love to know.
It’s really ugly, really embarassing, humiliating and bruising. It will be a fascinating story but I doubt that it will show up in Vanity Fair which is the perfect place for it.
I bet Jim was thinking that access to Obama was part of the perks of this deal. Guess not.
Actually, the Laker seats are 2600 each. But, Endeavor does not own them. They have a 10 year lease on them, which requires them to pay a premium over face value for them to the person who actually controls the seats. The cost is 250K a year above the face value.
“that one of the architects of this marriage is booted right after the deal is closed. Have there been any other examples of this kind of betrayal? I’d love to know.”
… it’s not exactly uncommon. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mergers & Acquisitions!
More from the deep dark inside of the merger. The blood letting continues. The consulting division list is close to becoming reality. John Fogelman will head the division with mark Dowley. Paul Bricault who is a first class gentleman is gently being pushed. The email system at William Morris will switched off friday through Sunday so that Outlook can be installed. Jim Wiatt is wandering the halls trying to figure out what happened and how he can get some positive PR. Dave Wirtschafter continues to hide out. Irv, well he’s gone but wont really admit it. Moral is at an all time low. The remaining troops are happy to have jobs but know they are all in second position to the Endeavor agents and are afraid they will get fired when their contracts come up.
Miami and NY continue to worry about more layoffs.
More to come
thanks jimmyz. i’m still amazed at what a dumbass sucker jim wiatt is. How could he have let this happen? Ari must have known all along that he was going to do this. It is fascinating to say the least. Where does Wiatt go from here? Is he really still showing up at WME. That’s hard to imagine.
This town becomes a sadder and less humane place everyday.
Endeavor’s ascendancy and the death of WM is one more sobering and chilling reminder that in the Darwinian whose dick is bigger world of Hollywood, the crass and the vulgar and the sleaze inevitably win out. With Strickler gone and no one to check Ari’s egomania, I actually find myself missing Ovitz just a little. It’s just a little harder to find any class in town these days…
That was Reggie Love, Obama’s personal aide getting some well deserved downtime, not Antione Fuqua.
How bad was Wiatt in the hole that he makes this deal? I know Jimbo lived in a big fantasy world and liked to spend like he was Jon Peters, circa 1991, but this deal makes no sense, except for little Jimmy’s payout. So it was all about Wiatt’s nut?
