Besides “Community” this schedule sucks ass. No one watches Jay Leno at 11:30, why would they watch him at 10?
Oh, and where is FNL?
Can anyone say last place. If it wasn’t for 30 rock and the office I might forget NBC entirely. Now these geniuses took control of SCIFI cancelled the 3 best shows, and changed the one umistakeable brand name that small enough and clear enough to steer a sci fi fan to a show they might not check out. Now no one will know what the heck SYFY means. Ben Silverman must be good at extortion or Something kinky or he would be fired
Where’s Medium? Does this mean that it is moving to CBS?
Can you believe that even as swine flu numbers and deaths keep climbing the Int’l screenings will take place as usual………flying in people from all over the world over to all the major studios. All it takes is just ONE sick person and we can potentially have an epidemic.
NBC’s schedule is so boring. It doesn’t even take into consideration that most of their stuff will fail. The only thing that makes sense is the comedy block on Thursday and then L & O leading in crappy old Southland which for some reason they have airing the whole year despite the fact that they will be pulling in a 1.0 the rate they are going. WATCH ANOTHER NETWORK, I AM!
Not Must See TV anymore.
Now, it’s just SCARY TV.
Do you think Leno will have to be less edgy at 10:00?
Interesting schedule. If NBC actually follows through with this, they will actually have fewer repeats than the other networks. With 18-20 episodes of Heroes followed by 13 episodes of Chuck this is, in my opinion, a good thing for both series. Neither of them do well when too many repeats air. But consering some of these series will not make it to midseason, I doubt that will happen. Tuesday and Thursday actually look like the networks weakest nights.
NBC never ceases to amaze me at their sheer stupidity. Heroes at 8? They really don’t want this show to survive — giving it no lead in. southland on Fridays? Come on, should be on wed. Guess they are more concerned about proving that Leno won’t be a flop. Ugh.
Community will probably be cancelled
SNL Weekend Update Thursday is a 6 episode order… 30 Rock’s return to its 9:30PM time slot will happen by end of October/early November, not after the Olympics. I’ve seen a lot of news sites misrepresent this. People freaking out that 30 Rock is on the bench, but it’s not — it didn’t premiere til Oct 30th. this year.
I was expecting 30 Rock to be back in the fall, with its massively improved ratings this third season (catching up with the office, on occasion).
Maybe they are gearing up for an eventual move to a year round schedule, but this is hardly an impressive lineup in my humble opinion.
Looks like football is the best thing on the peacock.
They should have kept Life. This schedule doesn’t look like the NBC of 5 years ago, let alone 10-20.
NBC has me down to Sunday Night Football (technically not prime time in LA) and The Office… one half hour of TV a week…
While I hope Earl makes a move to Fox, the big mistake here (besides the Leno thing) is canceling Life. It really hit its stride late in the season, and the finale was the best thing NBC has aired in forever… (not an especially high bar right now…)
Moving SVU to Wednesday? Law and Order to Friday, along with Southland? NBC is full of idiots. This will absolutely kill their schedule. Dick Wolk can’t be pleased.
Kill that ear sore, eye sore, brain sore show MY NAME IS EARL already.
It has always been horrendous.
Does Ben Silverman have pictures or a video on someone because how does he have a job? Please, someone help me out here.
Dick Wolf must be mad. To now have SVU moved for Southland which will get destroyed during that time. They will get .4 rating in the demo and Wolf used to actually win the night. Way to go, NBC!! You’ve done it again!!!!
I actually think this Schedule is pretty smart. Unlike past years, there seems to be a real effort to have some compatibility and common sense in the scheduling. Sunday night is Football. Monday is action / adventure. Tuesday is Reality / Inspirational. Wed is less themed, but Parenthood and SVU are not incompatible and might work well together. Thursdays are smart comedies. Fridays are cops and lawyers. And each weeknight, it ends with a light, funny nightcap of Leno making you smile before the news. I think NBC’s schedule makes a lot of sense, and it might do pretty well.
Nostradamus,
I actually think “My Name Is Earl” was wonderful its first year and pretty good its second. And the cast was always strong.
The problem with it was that it had a high concept that got boring/repetitive quickly (hence the need to throw Earl in jail for much of last season to try to switch it up.) Much like “Samantha Who?” was limited by its main hook (which, much like Earl, allowed up to glimpse the fun of a past life of the main character doing unlikable things with the knowledge that now they’re on the side of the angels.) If it had gone another five years, would she still not be remembering things? Who would care? Would she have to get bonked on the head again?
The networks seem to love these high concept shows (hard to sell a show without a big hook unless an established star is attached) but for comedy a lot of times simpler is better. “How I Met Your Mother”, while uneven, has at least gotten past its original hook by ignoring the main character’s search for his true love for many episodes at a time (although one sometimes wonders why the dad is telling some of these stories to his kids. Especially the fairly filthy ones. And as “Family Guy” pointed out, why does Bob Saget do his voice in the future if he’s already a grown adult and his voice isn’t going to change.)
A lot of the classic sitcoms didn’t have a big hook but were just about original characters and great jokes. Much like “The Office” today (or even “The Big Bang Theory”, which has a very basic concept but thanks to the wonderful cast and strong writing, manages to astonishingly work week after week.)
If this schedule doesnt make you sick at the upfronts, you’ll be safe from swine flu.
So basically the SNL Update bit is getting the short end of the straw and gets the less coveted 8:00 timeslot. Well at least its not 30 Rock leaving out to slowly die, though it is a pain to wait for it, instead of seeing it right off the bat.
I just saw the picture/promo for “The Parenthood.” That’s a ton of WHITE PEOPLE. COME ON NBC there was even a black kid in the movie. YOU GUYS SUCK!!!! I HOPE THE NAACP PLANTS A TENT IN YOUR ASSES. YOU SUCK!!!
Jesus
IF earle is gone then Jason lee may be able to do something good again before he is too old
The only reason so many turned in for SNL on Thursdays last year was because of the election… do they really expect people to turn in this year when there won’t be any Sarah Palin impressions by Tina Fey?
Not sure why they’re delaying 30 Rock either unless the episodes are too expensive to order a full run. One thing that irritates casual TV viewers is when networks constantly re-arrange the schedule. Eventually after so many time changes and delays between repeats and new episodes, they just give up and wait to watch on DVD, online or their DVR.
Uhhh. What about Kings?! That was the ONLY NBC show that I actually liked..
We’re number 4! We’re number 4!
NBC = Must-Flee TV.
“Not sure why they’re delaying 30 Rock either unless the episodes are too expensive to order a full run.”
It is getting a full run, just starting later. Same thing happened this past season.
