I’d previously reported that all 3 ordered pilots — MELROSE PLACE, THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE, VAMPIRE DIARIES – were highlighted as “hot” and likely to be picked up by The CW. And I posted on May 7th that the GOSSIP GIRL SPINOFF was dead. My sources say there will be other pilot pickups for midseason. The CW already renewed America’s Next Top Model, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Supernatural, 90210.

It’s official – Kevin Williamson just tweeted that he received a phone call from Dawn Ostroff.
Vampire is official
TOLDJA!
Any word on Body Politic or does this mean they have passed on it?
Any word on what the CW plans to do with Privileged or is it, like the rumors have been stating, not going to be back?
Is there ANY news on BODY POLITIC?!
I really hope they pick up The Body Politic.
Really disappointed the Gossip Girl spinoff didn’t get picked up. Was looking forward to the watered-down, but still entertaining, cribbing from Bret Easton Ellis’ storylines
Hopefully they’ll pickup Body Politic for midseason. It seems smarter and more diverse than half of their dramas. CW is really turning into the “Pretty White Kids With Problems” network.
WHATEVER! Who the hell wants to watch A Beautiful Life or Vampire Diairies. The CW should have picked up Valley Girls the spinoff had more potential than all those shows. I am still hoping the save it for midseason.
Have you heard anything about The Game?
That really sucks about the GG spin-off. Give me Britney Snow over Mischa Barton and Ashlee Simpson any day.
Other midseason pickups? What’s left? BODY POLITIC? LIGHT YEARS? Also, is it true that EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS and THE GAME are canceled? If so, does that open up another Fall slot?
Surprising that there won’t be a political show on in the Fall – IN THE BOX being redeveloped at ABC, nothing here about HOUSE RULES or WASHINGTON FIELD at CBS, and BODY POLITIC has been invisible at CW this whole time. Seems odd, given the political climate.
it’s very obvious why the Gossip Girl spinoff wasn’t picked up. The flashback sequences in last weeks episode were absolutely painful to watch. Just painful
Hey, all you folks who think you’re so original with your “Pretty White Kids With Problems” posts: WE GET IT. YOU SAW THE MAD TV PARODY WITH THAT TITLE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. So stop posting the same thing, trying to pass it off as your own clever, original non-funny observation, ‘kay?
Oh, and here come those Body Politic lobbyists. Good grief! What part of “this show won’t work on The CW” don’t you understand? If you love the idea so much, call Les Moonves and try to get it on CBS.
Sorry Jace..as for BODY POLITIC not working on The CW? Don’t let that ‘P’ word scare you away. Considering the amount of pretty people and sex, just in the pilot alone and the ‘Everyone has secrets’ theme it has going, it will fit on the CW perfectly.
LIGHT YEARS, OTOH, is about some poor, woe-is-me, my life sucks 15 yr old, in foster care, with loser parents. It would probably do better as some lame Lifetime movie. I can’t believe Dawn would think that the current CW viewers would want to watch that show. EVERWOOD, it’s not, by any stretch of the imagination.
Love GG (but don’t care for Melrose remake or The Beautiful Life) I’m curious about Vampire Diaries so I’ll most likely watch that.
However, I really hope Body Politic and Parental Discretion Advised (aka Life Unexpected) gets picked up.
well minka kelly as an actress is pathetic. she seems to tank shows. her character is from michigan like her former fling derek jeter. that’s a shame. the only time now that she gets good ratings is if she wears a yankee hatso photogs will follow her. then it drops off after that. the public doesn’t want minka. 200,000+ viewers lost from the first season of fnl. they said no nbc forced it on us. but if they put in a replacement that can act maybe it will work but she can’t act!
