Regarding Sunday’s programming, I refer you to this recent CW statement:
“As we plan our 2009/10 fall launch, we are in talks with several of our top affiliate partners about a number of creative and mutually beneficial actions that will build on our growing record of success. These discussions include an evolution of the strategy, which began this season, to focus The CW’s resources on Monday through Friday nights. As a result, we are now exploring the transition of Sunday night to our affiliates. This would provide a new revenue opportunity for the stations, while at the same time expanding upon our successful weekday strategy from this year, which resulted in ratings growth among our target audience.”

Wouldn’t it make more sense to save Vampire Diaries for midseason instead of banishing Smallville to Fridays and benching Supernatural for Top Model reruns?
Please do not take The Game off of BET that is the only Black show that I really love. I look at reruns and I have never done that in my life. I love this show please, please, please do not take it off the air.
Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart.
Any midseason news or is that still up in the air? I can’t imagine, after this season with next to nothing waiting in the wings to replace failed shows, that CW wouldn’t have a single midseason offering (while still scheduling the ANTM encore… sigh).
Translation: ‘We got nothin’. We had nothin’, then we handed the ball to MRC who had less, so nothin’s changed.’
Definitely nothing on here I’ll be watching. When I heard the network say “strong development season”, I thought for sure that meant they were picking up the one pilot they had that got really good reviews, The Body Politic. Now that it appears they’re taking the same old nonsense instead, I will definitely be amused when it drives them into the ground.
OK, if this isn’t a sure sign next season will be Smallville’s last I don’t know what is. After spending who knows how much money to get Tom Welling back they banish it to Friday!
Of course, I’m not all that torn up about it. I was planning on dropping Smallville next year in favor of Flash Forward (with Bones on the DVR).
and what´s after Smallville?
Reaper? Officially R.I.P.?
Ray Wise is so good in it.
I really hope is this fake… Smallville and Supernatural are like Peanut Butter and Jelly. They go hand in hand.
The lineup looks great, with one key exception. Are we to believe that there was no room for Privileged or the ideal Smallville companion, Reaper, or The Game or Everybody Hates Chris, or Body Politic, or Lily….but there IS room for a weekly rerun of Top Model on Friday?
Please, Nikki, pin down The CW folks as to why we should buy into the lack of original programming Friday at 9pm? Are we just conceding that no one is watching? CBS doesn’t believe that. Young girls are indeed home, but why would they sit thru a Top Model that aired two days ago? How amateurish is this?
Wow, that’s boring. I mean, a models show after Tyra? Melrose 2.0? That’s the best they got? Seriously?
I wonder if it’s ever occurred to the CW that treating us like we’re idiots does not make us want to watch their shows. Well, they’ve done it again: this 18-34 year old will not be watching.
Wow…. Smallville on Friday? They sure don’t pay attention do they? I guess they want to go ahead and kill Smallville off. It’s so funny how these big programmer types don’t get it. The people they want to watch Smallville isn’t home on Friday night. They are at high school football games or basketball games. They go to movies or hang out at parties. This show is DOA. I was guessing it was the last season anyway. Bye Bye Smallville. Friday is the kiss of death.
does that make Reaper a midseason?
Does this mean the CW’s two black shows, EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS and THE GAME, are gone?
Epic fail. EPIC! An encore of ANTM on Thursday night OR ANY night for that matter is a MAJOR embarrassment at this point. What are you, now five years into your network and you’re losing a night of programming AND still running an encore????
What goes on over there? Is the whole network a tax shell????
Sounds like another below average lineup for a wannabe network w/ below basic cable ratings
“90210 and “Melrose Place”. Either its 1992 or the CW is really sad & desperate.
NBC can’t program scripted TV M-F @ 10pm so they go Leno.
CW can’t program Sunday Night, one of the biggest TV nights of the week, so it kicks back to the affiliates.
AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL Encore is “pulling a Silverman” too.
Any other networks want to wave their white flags too?
Plenty of hankies to go around.
Nothing surprising here but they fixed a few holes. CW should continue to grow the a1834 demo again next year
Something tells me even Aaron Spelling would be shocked to see 90210 and Melrose Place on a 2009 network schedule scheduled back to back as they once were. So creative over there.
WHAT THE F*K I S THIS?!!!
Smallville on friday?????????????????????????? That killed Sarah Conor chronicles now this horse hockey.
Pleas put Smallvile back in its usual spot, place ANTM only on friday, and stick Vampires on Wednsday at 9pm.
…ok now I have to cue up XTC “The Loving” and try to deal with all the animosity this asses are causing.
utterly pathetic & unsympathetic…
Actually, the CW is CBS TS’s and WB’s diabolical plan to give us the reruns of “Cold Case”, “Without a Trace”, and all of the other dumped shows they own.
CW on Sundays = Yesterday’s Network. (kinda)
‘Life Unexpected’ (Light Years) has been picked up for Mid-Season.
saw this and this show is the dark horse. has a lot of heart/soul/laughs and tears.
Why does Dawn Ostroff still have a job?
Hey CW, 90210 and “Melrose Place” should be dropped. Why does Gossip Girl consistently rank higher in the ratings than “90210″? Because its not a lame retread of a 20 year old show.
CW really dropped the ball by not trying something different, like “Lily”. I’d rather see a Gossip Girl spinoff than a 90210 spinoff.
@ Lily: Preach. I cannot imagine my thursdays without the Smallville/Supernatural combo. Although honestly the only reason I watch Smallville is because Supernatch is right after it… and because I like hot superheroes, esp. teh Supes. Since I agree with everyone else that the idiots at CW are basically sending Smallville to its grave (not that the show doesn’t have arthritis in the joints already), and this season is Supernatch’s last, I won’t be watching CW anymore. They obviously don’t give a crap about quality TV.
