Twilight may have swept five awards — including best movie, best kiss and best fight — at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards. But everybody’s talking about that Sacha Baron Cohen stunt that “shocked” Eminem. MTV is claiming this was unscripted. (Then again, MTV produced that Janet and Justin wardrobe malfunction Nipplegate for the 2004 halftime Super Bowl show aired on CBS — then claimed that was unscripted, too.)
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

I was at this show, he was absolutely PISSED!! It was the funniest thing, staged or not, it was priceless
Its so obvious on so many levels that this was scripted.
Before everyone starts saying that EM was in on it. No way he would let Cohen put his ass in his face and then storm off like a humiliated *****. Maybe he thought Cohen was going to do something else like land in his lap and then Sasha did his thing. But even that is unlikely because who would trust Cohen.
If scripted and Eminem was part of it: decent entertainment. If unscripted: best. Thing. Ever.
100% staged and scripted — and genius regarding press coverage.
Brett
One of the wings got stuck on a cable, from that point on Sasha lost control and the rest is history.
Sasha BC can only get attention & cheap laughs by baring body parts. He’s a total ass who only appeals to reptillian 12 yr old male brain cells. Cheap stupid stunts is his schtick. Next….
It was scripted in that Eminem expected something, that’s why he had his heavies- whatever he agreed to, it wasn’t that. He was terrified and humiliated
This was clearly scripted. No way in a crowded room filled with 1000 people that Bruno just happened to land on the one rapper with a reputation for getting easily pissed off at the MTV Movie Awards AND for being homophobic.
I attended the MTV Movie Awards back in 1996 or so when Ben Stiller & Janeane Garafalo hosted. Mel Gibson was there to promote some horrible dreck (Lethal Weapon 4?) and was scheduled to present the movie of the year. Garafalo pigeonholed Gibson backstage for an “interview” which was being broadcast to the crowd, and Garafalo asked Gibson question after question how her performances had inspired HIS career. He clearly had no idea who she was and was mystified about why she thought he was some big fan of hers. The crowd was roaring, and eventually Mel realized she was taking the piss, so he jumped up and stormed out like a crybaby, without ever appearing onstage to present. At the end of the night, Stiller had to hand out the award, and when the show aired 2 weeks later (what? It’s not live? No way!), all mention of Mel Gibson EVER being at the awards was removed, including the interview and all mentions of him by other nominees and shots of him backstage, etc.
If Eminem wasn’t in on that Bruno joke, MTV would never have aired it. It would have gone straight down the memory hole… they can’t afford to piss off a major star like him, especially when he’s just come out of rehab and is restarting his career (which makes them boucoup dollars, with his “behind the scenes of Eminem’s new video” programs and whatnot). Additionally, truly making him mad would also alienate Dre and 50 Cent, which they would never dare do.
Most likely Em saw Borat, thought it was funny, and when they approached him about doing this bit, he did it thinking that it would be a funny riff on his supposed homophobia. It was weird, though, because most people in the audience seemed to have NO IDEA what was going on, or who Bruno was, etc. Too early.

GOOD!
Winston Smith,
The show was live. How did you not know that?
Scripted or not, pretty damn funny and far more entertaining than the joke of “talent” that sit there and feign relevancy on these “Empty”-Vee” shows.
Sacha Baron Cohen at least was FUNNY whereas Howard Stern’s similar “Fart Man” thing years ago was only pathetic.
Maybe Eminem wasn’t in on it but no way in hell this wasn’t rehearsed with a stand in for the mark. The wire rig is computer controlled within 1/16 inch of the actors life.
Totally staged, Marshall totally in on it, and totally hilarious. If you think anything otherwise, I’ve got a fantastic bridge for sale…
Of course, the trolls at Viacom have removed the video clip. When will Redstone and company finally “get it?”
I guess I have brain cells of a 12 year old cuz I was laughing my ass off.
There is no way that Eminem was in on this MTV Episode. Its was scripted by Sasha before the show bwtween him and his wire man or even during rehearsal because they know whos gonna site where. Also,You can hear Sasha yelling about his Pooper And that his trunks were falling which was the SIGNAL and also to make Em think it was some kind of malfunction and would stay seated.Lmao! He also had plenty of time to move as Sasha was falling from the sky toward him and him and his Fat Azz crew just sat there and did nothing.D-12′S with Bizarres Big Baby cryin Azz on PUNKED didn’t even start to back him up until Em yelled like a B@#tch to get his Azz off of him and they still didnt do much and what they did do Sasha made it even funny by saying “Dont Hit Me Guys,Lets Take it To My Hotel Room!” HAHA!!!! If it was my Crew from Gary Indiana he would gotten the Fanman Treatment and would not have walked out of there.Instead Eminem and his so called Posse walked out of there imbarAZZed.That is definatly no way to make a comeback and promote your new Album thats for sure and was Mos Defthe highlight of the whole night.Peace, Lyrical….
Is it just me or did Eminem have a mic on when he was walking away. Why would he have the mic if it wasn’t scripted?
I was frankly amazed at how crude the show got. There was a stretch that included Rimes singing “I jizzed in my pants” and that stupid Most Desirable Sound Editor saying “Suck my dick” (repeatedly) and air humping for like forever. I’m not prudish but I found myself wondering what primary demos the advertisers were sold.

Totally agree. Yes, yes, yes.
Sacha Baron Cohen appeals to the lowest form of comedy out there, yet perfectly reasonable people bow to him.
SBC – I hope you read this. You suck.
Eminem is a total jerk, his reaction was typical from a white trash low life. He can dish it out, but he can’t take it. He’s a “little man”.
Gotta love Sacha Baron Cohen!
Ofcourse it was planned but not to the point that Eminem knew he was going to get an ass in his face. SBC is an infamous prankster and kept that part secret till the end.
The show is no longer taped, Winston. Last night’s incident happened live. Not saying it wasn’t necessarily scripted, but there was no way to edit it out.
Totally staged promotional ‘incident’.
The set up started with a camera pan to Eminem in his seat to orient the viewer.
Eminem’s bodyguards didn’t manhandle Sacha, they did a 3 Stooges-like prolonged bumble to swing him aside (and someone swung him back over Eminem as part of the ballet).
MTV had a camera crew at the back of the room to capture Eminem storming up the aisle, and he appears to have been miked at the time.
Think about it. If not for this set piece, no one would be talking about that tediously unfunny show at all.
Why was Eminem even performing at a movie awards show? Oh yeah, new CD to promote.
So glad this happened — Eminem revealed a humorless, petulant little pussy.
