• He can parse it, and “non-apologize” for it all he wants (read his latest “apology” — the problem was OUR misinterpretation of the joke, not HIS intent): the simple fact is he was and is allowed to get away with this tasteless joke because the subject of it is a hated conservative. Case closed for the State-run media and all the commentators. Had the joke been about the Obama girls and Michelle, he would have been fired. Immediately. We all know this, and yet conservatives are being told to shut up and live with this double standard in America. Only when we say, “Enough!” and start protesting and boycotting and making phones calls like the Left, will that attitude really change (why do you think the Tea Parties caused such a fear/stink with the State-run?). Because it always comes down to the money.

• Well, Embassy Suites won’t be getting my future business. Dave already admitted he made a mistake. He shouldn’t have to grovel to Palin because she wants to milk this for political gain. Other comics have made equally lame jokes, and Palin never made a fuss.

• Agree, the joke was tasteless, Letterman apologized.
  But it was Palin who made it about rape and her 14 year old. For months jokes have been made about this subject and Bristol, family values and abstinence??

  Unfortunate, The Hilton Hotels Corp felt the need to become part of this phony outrage controversy.

  Now, my family,friends and I will boycott, The Hilton Hotel, Embassy Suites Double Tree and my absolute favorite the Waldorf Astoria.

• Embassy Suites seems to be positioning itself as a hotel chain for Sarah Palin Republicans. Given the state of the hotel market and the Republican Party, that may not be a wise business decision.

• Well I know what hotel chain I won’t stay at again. It’s a sad state of affairs when Sarah Palin tells America what is right and what is wrong. She can’t even manage the chaos in her own life. Yes, it was a lame joke but one that was on-target. For those who think the joke was about a 14-year-old, what can I say? You’re just not tha bright. And can someone tell me how the hell does a knocked-up teen-ager become the national spokesperson for a teen pregnancy prevention group? What’s next? Bernie Madoff being the spokesperson for a money management firm?

• I will not stay at Embassy Suites or any of its affiliates if they pull their advertisements. Absolutely ridiculous! He apologized and that should be enough. Letterman is not a bad guy – he made a mistake – give me a break. And worse has been said on other shows.

• Dave has apologized not for what he said, but for saying something that this evil woman was able to twist into an attack vehicle with the skill of a Transformer (well, Decepticon, actually) and now, if she keeps trying to make a federal case out of this, he should be entitled to ridicule her relentlessly. The joke in question was never, ever about her younger daughter until she SAID it was about her youngest daughter. It’s actually pretty clear who the abuser is here.

  America disagrees with Hollywood’s “Rape Chic” message: (i) racist Sandra Bernhard – Palin should Be Gang Raped By Blacks In Manhattan, (ii) Tina Fey and Palin Family incest, (iii) Letterman and statutory rape of Willow Palin, and (iv) Playboy web article on “Hate Raping” 10 conservative women.

  David Letterman is a jerk for attacking a 14 year-old, but to his credit he is the only one who apologized for his disgusting behavior. Also, credit to National Organization For Women (NOW) for the first time in history criticizing (Letterman and Playboy) misogynistic comments directed at conservative women. Usually, for NOW, you have to be pro-life to be considered a woman.

• I was very moved by this situation and have decided to join the boycot. Of Embassy Suites. None of my production staff will ever stay at an Embassy Suites Hotel on my dime – or any company I work with and am able to influence – again.

  Oh, and as a sign of solidarity with Dave, I will refuse any overtures from a drunken Paris Hilton.
