They’ll air September 13th this year. The network and the TV Academy had planned to air the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20th, but TV Week is reporting that, since that decision was made, the NFL came out with its Sunday schedule, and it turned out CBS had a football doubleheader on September 20th. Not to mention that NBC had the mother of all football rivalries skedded opposite the Emmys: New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys. Ergo the date change. Now, find a way for the Emmys not to be such a snore.

They could always invite Bruno to land on Jeremy Piven’s face…that would liven things up.
too bad cbs is doing it this year… if it were fox i’d have the simpsons actors hosting. how awesome would that be? on their 20th anniversary. hank azaria introducing someone as moe… shearer doing burns… etc.
“Now, find a way for the Emmys not to be such a snore.”
Er, watchable shows lasting more than a season?
Bloody sports!
A clear case of what america wants. Because when it comes to the choice between the NFL, and Hollywood….
NFL wins every time. Hands down, no questions asked.
The Emmys are on CBS this year? I’m under 30, so you’ll have to indulge my question… is CBS even available on satellite and cable providers outside of nursing homes and retirement villages?
Joking aside, the Emmys do at least TRY. The theater in the round, the five hosts… even if they don’t necessarily work well, they try to do SOMETHING different. Hopefully this year they do something different that everybody likes. (I hated the five hosts, but, liked the theater in the round, and Seacrest as host. I know.)
A more logical reason to move from Sept. 20: The Emmys would have been clobbered by NBC’s Sunday Night Football confrontation between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys. Plus, it’ll be the first regular-season contest at Dallas’ spectacular new $1 billion Cowboys Stadium.
As it happens, the Emmys may wind up taking a back seat to the Sunday Night Football fare on Sept. 13 — the Chicago Bears at the Green Bay Packers.
Well they might consider what the people like and choose a couple of people that have not stood there year after year collecting emmys like jelly beans. There is alot of good and great talent on TV that never gets a nod or a mention. Same ol, same ol year after year.
