Comedy Central just struck a deal with 20th Century Fox Television to air 26 new episodes of Matt Groening’s Futurama cancelled by FBS in 2003 after a 5-season run. The first new episodes will start to air in mid-2010.

This news was making its rounds a day ago, but still fantastic news indeed. Futurama was one of the smartest shows on TV, which makes it surprising it lasted as long as it did on FOX.
Awesome. Now bring back Star Trek: The Animated Series!
I’m so excited, my delta brainwaves are off the charts.
This is the second animated Fox series to get a post-cancellation life… but the only one that actually deserved it. Sorry, Family Guy… I’m just not that into you.
Good news, everyone!
Was Chris Bender responsible for this, as well as The Hangover?
BEST NEWS EVER! Thank you for bringing back one of the best shows on Television. Ever.
David X. Cohen (showrunner/EP) should be mentioned as well. He was the creative force behind the show since the pilot. He pitched the idea to Matt while a Co-EP on The Simpsons and he co-wrote the pilot.
This is one of the only shows I can watch reruns over and over and not get tired of them. I smile at the huge Bender in the Rough Draft office whenever I walk by.
In other words, hooray!
Why was this show ever cancelled in the first place??? Were the ratings bad?
Definitely one of the best shows on TV
Awesome. Now bring back Star Trek: The Animated Series!

SECOND!
Love Futurama– The Star Trek Homage Ep was genius indeed!
Now kiss my shiny metal ass!
Hooray!!! Futurama proves that animated sci fi/ comedy works! Each episode is hilarious and sometimes I actually learn some cool science stuff! I’m so glad it’s back from the dead!
Fantastic!!!
I am Lrrr from the planet Omicron Persei 8! Ndnd and I look forward to watching these episodes in a thousand years’ time!
futurama was on 5 seasons
Sweet, hope the new episodes are better than the recent spate of Futurama movies..
And here’s hoping they bring back _Everyone Loves Hypnotoad_…
