Director Guillermo Del Toro has been on a book tour promoting The Strain which premiered last night at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles. The new novel by Del Toro and Chuck Hogan prompted people to start lining up hours before the 12:01 AM release time today. That's right, the book signing began just after midnight and continued well past 4 AM. Why? Because his reps say "he won't leave the store until every geek who purchased a book and wants an autograph gets one". Tonight, Del Toro will be at Borders bookstore in Westwood which starts at 7 PM so he might exit at a decent hour. But don't count on it.
A giant among men.
Wonderfully talented.
Obviously knows & is respectful of his fan base.
The signing at Meltdown last night was amazing, and Guillermo didn’t seem the slightest bit tired when he left well into the night (er, morning). In fact, he looked elated. This guy is a class act and truly appreciates his fans – and the book ain’t bad either!
Guillermo Del Toro is a class act.
Meltdown is the greatest store. It’s awesome that Del Toro did his signing their first!
That’s how ALL artists, stars and celebs should act. Nice to see someone respecting their fans.
Ahh..if all directors were like him.
Not surprised by this at all. Guillermo is a man whose heart is even greater than his amazing talent.
I met Mr. Del Toro just briefly at a horror convention several years ago and he’s such a charming, sweet guy. Just so down to earth you forget he’s THE Guillermo Del Toro and just shake his massive hand. He was so happy I enjoyed The Devil’s Backbone and was genuinely kind to everyone.
Really looking forward to The Hobbit(s)
Aw, this makes me want to buy the book! Way to be awesome GDT
