I’m really trying to muster up any sympathy for IATSE; they voted for their shitty contract which allowed for more non-union workers on productions, they caved on every contract point and now they’re reaping what they sewed.
During the WGA strike, I also remember several IATSE guys calling me names and threatening me and others on the picket line as they crossed it to get to work.
Keep on picketing. Wont stop us at all. The recession provides all the workers we need. And when no more crew members show up, off to canada we go! Either way we win, you whiners lose.
Way to go Nick. You’re a true American Hero (NOT!) Maybe you should ship in Indian workers from India like Mitchell Habib and replace American workers like he did at Citigroup, Nielsen and other companies. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I love the irony of this. I won’t forget the attempts at running me over, nor the threats by some yahoo IATSE members to kick my ass (and others on the picket line) during the WGA strike. Nor do I forget that they crossed the picket line every day at CBS and other studios. They voted for a shit deal and are now getting screwed again? You’ll understand my lack of empathy, won’t you?
@ Hank:
We’re going to see this happen with SAG, now that so many shut their eyes to the truth and voted for the contract — and for allowing non-union work.
@ Nick:
You are a complete douchebag, just so you know.
NICK – Who is more revolting and pathetic…someone who sells out their professional brothers and sisters for perceived personal gain OR a short-sighted, self-absorbed. arrogant, unsensitive, gloating SELL OUT? [*Nick quickly runs to the nearest mirror to check*]
If you picked A.Regular or B. Extra Crispy with Ranch Dip – You are correct!
Reply to Hollywood Jack;
You echo my thought and words, Thank You
P.S. I do miss my friends on the line and the new one I made on the line with the WGA.
S.A.G. IN SOLIDARITY WITH I.A.T.S.E.?
The backers of the just-ratified SAG contract made one thing very clear, as they argued in favor of their deal with the AMPTP.
The New National Majority (NNM) of the SAG Board preached the gospel of the Great Harmonic Convergence of 2011, A.D. The NNM’s evangelism was facilitated by their National Executive Director (NED), David White.
This professional blend of highly refined snake oils promised a cure for the demeaning S.A.G. contract which the NNM and White were strenuously promoting.
SAG members were exhorted to BELIEVE! that, when all the entertainment unions’ contracts expire, almost simultaneously, in 2011, they will all stand up as one and defy the AMPTP — All for One and One for All. Each union will stand strong behind every other union, until all are victorious in the quest to make up the painful, humiliating rollbacks each had accepted in 2008-09. (Along with the pathetic, “ground-breaking” crumbs from New Media.) The by-word was “Leverage.”
To make it happen, SAG’s NNM and NED White promised to build bridges of solidarity with sister unions.
[Warning: attempted humor ahead]
LET THE BUILDING BEGIN!
In their struggle with Levinson Productions, IATSE leaders MUST call upon SAG leaders for support — and not only verbal support. Using its considerable logistical resources, SAG can, and will, get the word out to its 110,000 members and rally them to IATSE picket lines within 24 hours.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, two members of SAG’s National Board were very upbeat about the possibilities opened up by the ratification of the actors’ contract. The two, KEN HOWARD and ADAM ARKIN would be the logical choices to spearhead a campaign to bring SAG and IATSE together, on IATSE’s picket lines! David White, of course, would implement the directives of Howard and Arkin.
David White can be reached at (323)549-6609.
Messages for Ken Howard and Adam Arkin can be left at (323)549-6418. Emails may be addressed to them, care of CommitteeOfficeLA@sag.org. The messages will be printed out and left in their SAG mail boxes.
See you on the line!
Coming in 2011! The Rapture!! See the AMPTP fall before Labor Armageddon!!!
SERIOUSLY? I will go to the IATSE web page and I’ll be at the next Levinson protest. Seriously? I’ll be pleasantly surprised if I see Ken, Adam or David.
you are all a bunch of whiney little babies. ooohhhh, boo hoooo, we signed a bad agreement…ooohhhh, boo hoo these show are non-union. why don’t you some of you gutless fuckin terds try raising your own money to make your own shows instead of sucking on the corporate tits that you all love to vilify. PUSSIES!!
