NBC is under fire for using Brian William’s sitdown time with President Obama to make informercials for its entertainment shows. There was Brian Williams and Obama taping a plug for Conan O’Brien’s first week on The Tonight Show. And a plug for Fred Armisen’s Obama impression on Saturday Night Live. Like conservatives don’t already consider NBC News and MSNBC to be the No-Bama-Criticism networks. (But not CNBC where Obama can’t catch a break.) No surprise that there’s now a backlash over this NBC News/NBC Entertainment cross-promotion with the White House — like this comment on a right-wing website: ”Obama owes NBC so much for shilling for him, he wanted to shill back.” The videos are below.

Oh COME ON! It was a JOKE! Brian Williams has done oodles of these kinds of jokes on Colbert Report and The Daily Show. He’s on NBC and, of COURSE would do this type of goofy stuff. I think it was very kind of President Obama to play along. He’s a good sport and has the ability to poke fun at himself!

It appears as if a back room deal with NBC has occurred. Perhaps NBC is making noise about following Fox and not airing Obama’s frequent television addresses. Perhaps Obama is appeasing such (empty) threats by agreeing to boost NBC’s ratings in other ways.
