Looks awesome. Tarantino is back!
The thing about genius is … it’s invisible. It takes a genius to know a genius. So well, ya know.
Judging from the title alone, which hooked me the moment I laid eyes on it … *because* of the creative spelling, I couldn’t wait to see Tarantino’s next offering.
I’ll see it with bells on, taking it as it is, without judgment, as simply another piece in the body of work of an auteur who interests me.
I don’t make the mistake of judging Tarantino’s pieces individually. I support him as a unique, authentic voice in filmmaking, just as I would Kubrick, or Welles. I give Tarantino the gift of creative license, as I would want the same given to me.
Tarantino is one of the last dons. His work demands that you pay attention. And I’ve learned with him, as well as a select group of others, that my perception of the work will evolve as I do. What seems campy and trite today will take on legs in my psyche. And eventually I’ll become one with the material. I’ll be able to receive the poetic nuances that ordinary eyes miss. In other words, I’ll see the film that Tarantino made from his own POV. This is a breathtaking position from which to watch a film, from the eyes of the one who created it.
In short, I give Tarantino’s genius breathing space. I don’t let my ego slam the gavel in snap judgment, because I get a rise out of taking pot shots at a king. It feels mighty good to engage in this base behavior, but I try to make a point to rise above it.
What’s with all the hate? This looks delightful.
What do you negative guys want? THIS international trailer is by far better and more entertaining, than the US trailer. The film is pure entertainment, stop bashing it before you see it. And watch out for some cool German actors…. I will!
From Berlin, cheers
this looks horrible. the performance of brad shown in the trailer doesn’t do him any favors either. yeish.
Did Guy Richie co-direct this movie? Geeeeeezz, talk about unimpressive. With that said, I would bet this movie will make bank. The Quentbots will eat this up and tell everyone why it’s awesome, even if they don’t believe it to be so.
That my friends is a knee jerk reaction to a poor screening in Cannes from a nervous distributor and “Iconoclast”.
I’m sure No one involved is particularly happy with it.
You reap what you sow,
I truly respect Mike Meyers work and I feel bad for the comparison’s to Bruno which are surely going to come from this poor poor piece of casting.
Right Now Mr Pitt’s Bank Manager can be the only happy party.
Tarantino could’ve saved the studios millions of dollars and just masturbated.
Did none of you read the comment by “anonymous genius”? You can’t just watch this film and have a direct reaction to it. You have to incorporate in your reactions to Tarantino’s past films, perhaps even your expectations for his future films–this is one piece in the career of an “auteur,” you see–and you have to consider that any dialogue that strikes you as idiotic may be reborn as catchphrases in the casual speech of morons worldwide by week’s end.
That’s not going to happen, though, because this is Death Proof 2. Or the fifth or sixth of the Four Rooms–the (2nd? after Kill Bill?) ball room in Quentin’s decreasingly fascinating “mind.” Never has a goon with nothing to say about either life or art had so much rope with which to hang himself.
Yawn. Tarantino simply making another “spot the homage” flick for internet fanboys to masturbate over. Has Tarantino ever made a film with a single original idea in it? He’s like a guy with a kickass CD collection who insists that this somehow makes him a musician.
No one can ever remake the Dirty Dozen (this is not Top Secret, seesh – a parody of a parody? come-on). At least not well.
That said, QT seems to be making his homage to it. I’m all for it. The guy’s made serious ground breaking hits. I think here he’s just having a little fun. Sure it cost serious millions. But Lovers and Haters alike can come up with at least 5 pics this year that cost more and are a bigger waste of time talent and money.
