There’s a bunch of guys that work on film crews and make funny T-shirts about the industry and post a new one each day. They sent me the link to today’s: a white or black T-shirt with THE STRIKE – Summer 2011 across the chest. Here’s how their website text reads: “Coming to a globe near you. In a world where movie studios make all the rules, two unions join forces to stand up for what’s right — DVD & Online royalties! Well, for those of you that don’t know, in the Summer of 2011 both the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild contracts come up for renegotiation AT THE SAME TIME. This means (most likely) they will join forces to make sure the studios give them what they want. It could be the largest work stoppage in Hollywood history. The studios are well aware of this impending doom and so we should expect to see them all trying to stock pile production. This most likely will result in a large amount of work to come starting (hopefully) soon.” For $14.90, you can give the moguls what they deserve.

Unions are ruining Hollywood, Los Angeles and California.
You get what you deserve.
@ fedup:
No, you clueless moron, the greed of the studios is doing that.
Get some education before you embarass yourself any further.
As a WGA and DGA member, I’ve watched with horror as SAG went through its idiocy. No way in hell am I hitching my wagon to the SAG carnival in 2011.
To our friends at filmcrew, sorry to unfairly cast suspicions. As a BTL’er with a strong sense of history, casting suspicions has been a blight on our industry in the past, and I don’t want to condemn anyone. We’re all just trying to make a living, right? (my poor fool AD mind, always obsessing with detail, still wonders, why the mention of TAD’s and 4ths, though. What up, yo?)
Furthermore, I honestly read this shirt as a tongue-in-cheek comment on the past few years of strike-happy rhetoric more than any forecast of the future, and sincerely hope I’m right. Naturally, the article that proceeds it isn’t so kind in its assumption.
Either way, congrats on the publicity, and that green AD hoodie is badass. Expect my order soon.
Rabble, Rabble
No worries man. As for the TADs and 4Ths if you read we mention that normally they are just referred to as ADs still we are writing about film crews here and anywhere else for that matter. We wanted to have an overall description of the position.
Yes the shirt is def not a call to arms and only a lighthearted comment on the industry.
Also, thanks for your support. hope you enjoy the hoodie.
You may have given us an idea for an upcoming shirt “BTLer”
