I’m told that former WMA talent agent Dana Sims, who asked to be released from her contract, has closed her new deal with ICM. Many of her clients are following her across music, film, TV. I don’t have names yet, but she used to rep TV and movie clients including 50 Cent, Ludacris, Common, Nelly, Ciara, Rihanna, Jill Scott, Nas, Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson. (Obviously, these were repped by the WMA music department, too.)

The. Hottest. Chick. In. The. Game. Bar none. Can’t wait to make some movies with her clients. I hope ICM has enough writers and directors to keep her clients in clover.
Dana is a great agent who was undervalued at WMA. ICM should be pleased that she is now part of the team!
Dana is the real deal. More than anyone else in that music dept. Dana always approaches her clients as ARTISTS and honors their need/desire to have diverse interests and projects to engage. Moreover, she’s not just a great agent with great taste, but a great person to boot! Nice get, ICM.
WMA mistreated her. They didn’t appreciate her at all. Cara knew how good she was, but didn’t have the power to keep her. The douchebag three W’s screwed up.
It so great that good people like Dana land well. She’s a great agent and a team player. Dana smile you are in a much better place. The word from the inside is still bleak. All the the mailroom people from WMA have been let go. Paul Bricault has ben removed as head of consulting and has been replaced by Endeavor’s Mark Dowley. More and more of Wililam Morris is going bye bye. Jim not sure how you can live with yourself. What happened to Irv. Irv nobody even misses you
By the way, Ari is on a two week vacation. Very nice.
One quibble with an above poster. Cara Lewis is one of the reasons that Dana needed to get out. She deserved combat pay. But yes the lack of support of senior mgmt did not make life any easier. As the 3 Ws were all tried not to deal with Cara. We shall see how Ari handles that one.
Dana you rock girl. Take all the clients with you. You deserve it all!!! Guess what, Dave’s GF Jill Smoller has finally figured out that the gig is up. She’s telling all her iner circle that her time of free travel is coming to an end. The guys in consulting got together today to discuss there future or should we say lack of future. The know that Mark Dowley is getting rid of most of them. We also hear that John Ferriter is getting closer to becoming a factor again. Sean Perry is drinking more coffee then usual. CAA is starting to take a real good run at Ed Limato’s talent list. Get ready boys, talent will be leaving very soon. By the way Ari how can you be on the board of Live Nation and book live concert dates. You are a bit conflicted
I work a major music label. We have been telling our clients for the last few weeks to let there lawyers do there tour deals instead of WME. How can Ari not quit the board of Live Nation. How can WME say they are impartial. If I’m a act getting ready to decide between AEG or Live Nation and my agent at WME is pushing towards Live Nation I’m worried. Marc Geiger, Peter Grosslight are you listening. What are you going to do about this. CAA its a good time to whisper into the ears of the clients you want. Taylor, Britney, Little Wayne, its time to move on.
Eddie Murphy have you gone to CAA yet. Who’s looking over you. Not Venit, he’s got Sandler. That’s right all the best stuff will go to him
Carazy al,
The whole town has gone wild if you think about it. With CAA’s recorded division offering the same 360 deals as the major labels such as Interscope and Def Jam, companies like Live Nation and AEG offering 360 deals and agencies like WME, CAA touring their clients, it seems like conflict of interests all over the place. I’m not one for government intervention in business but it seems like there needs to be an inquiry or two into the legality of these “enhanced” business practices.
The entertainment business is starting to look like a family tree with no fork. And, we all know what happens with you give birth to the child of your brother, sister or first cousin. It’s also illegal too!
WMA’s music department was always a significantly independent, if not isolated and self-managing department within the agency. Depending on how WME structure evolves, it may stay that way. Why fix something that is not broken? Especially with Geiger and Grosslight in house.
So nice to read this blog and read all the love for an Agent. Yes, it is possible in this dysfunctional business. DANA SIMS IS A ROCK STAR. ICM is the winner of the week. Bravo!
I love how ICM became the supporter of POWERFUL BLACK FEMALE AGENTS. Lorrie Bartlett. Andrea Nelson-Meigs and Dana Sims.
I think that this is the first client list I’ve read that 1.) I have instantly recognized all of the names (from Christmas shopping lists) and 2.) my nieces and nephews would actually care about.
