I heard today that the music publication PERFORMING
SONGWRITER is also kaput ! They just published their last issue.
Radio and Records went under, Performing Songwriter went under, Billboard people being fired, and the magazine itself next in line for the axe. There is NO music business…hence no music publications. All has moved online. Some of this might be a good thing.
That really stinks. I always checked out their charts for what new music artists were releasing. Anyone else know where I can get some charts with new music and new releases?
To be fair, any magazine called “Radio and Records” in the age of XM/Sirius, iPods, the dwindling CD market, etc. kind of feels like a dinosaur ready to get Ol’ Yeller’ed anyway.
No more music buisness! Sad, but increasingly true. Sure, Miley and Taylor are burning up the charts and the airwaves … but, diminished sales make for no adverts, press, and all the aasociated trinkets …
sad days indeed …
It’s not GONE, but, might different. A whole new playing field.
GOOD RIDDANCE. Too bad for the writers & editors here, but this publication was a joke even since Nielsen bought it out. It was all pay for play and horribly bias coverage. Thank god it’s finally on the rubbish heap.
