Arthur’s work is his own and does not necessarily reflect my views. Creative license. (And to the dimwits who don’t appreciate Arthur’s graphic commentary: this is based on Francisco de Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son.)

Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

ooh you are so cultured and refined. 1000 thank yous for enlightening me. Arthur, let me say (again) how much I do not appreciate your “art” or your feeble attempts to make it relevant to entertainment. I am pretty sure that Nikki agrees because she took the time to try and explain or provoke.
Little on the nose…
Arthur just keeps getting better and better…
sadly, i am one of those dimwits.
If you’re a cartoonist and you have to put words on everything, isn’t that a sign something’s off?
If this drawing was simply a sentence that read “WME2 is destroying fair severance and fair wages” would it be any less effective? Sadly, no.
Did you call us dimwits? Quite honestly, Nikki, the only dimly witted person in this mix is the one who keeps giving Arthur space in their column to create his relentlessly pedantic art. Come on, in this town? If you just asked for people to submit something satirical you’d be inundated with fine art as opposed to work that quite frankly would be rejected by my son’s Highlights magazine.
Sheesh, and people give ME a hard time…
I was wondering, for all this time, why I was a dimwit… now I know it’s because I don’t “appreciate” this shitty artwork.
Thank you for the enlightenment Nikki.
Yeah, thanks for treating me like a moron. Arthur, you are the biggest faux intellectual of our time. I understand wanting to pull from Goya, since he was great and all your original ideas blow, but come on, man. Again with this Tammany Hall BS?? There’s a reason they stopped making cartoons like this in the 1800′s. This on-the-nose, uninspired, hold-my-head-under-toilet-water-till-I-see-my-own-blood brand of tortuously boring cartooning needs to stop.
Unfortunately, Arthur, you’re a mildly talented artist with a coddled, unadventurous mind and a horrible sense of humor that’s all too willing to settle on the first mildly clever thing that pops into your head… just like most cartoonists. It’s really awful. Please go away.
Haha, must you be a dimwit to not appreciate this? Or maybe turned off by the imagery and lack of subtlety? Not very clever.
The legs remain uneaten! What were the head and right arm? “Johnny Fairplay” and “County Fair?”
Cutting-edge, as always!
Next from Arthur: K.I.T.T. (labeled) NBC blows up Michael Knight (labeled Ben Silverman) while trailing behind two white lines marking the freeway (labeled cocaine).
@ Buck Zollo
Nikki published the cartoon, idiot.
And you’re welcome.
It’s not based on Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son, it is Goya’s Saturn Devouring His Son with WME stenciled on it. What’s the commentary here? Is Goya still with WME? I thought he was poached by CAA. Err… wait, no – Saturn is with WME, right? No? Oh it’s a moronically obvious “comment” on shitty wages in Hollywood. What’s next Guernica in the mailroom? Or maybe Bosch’s Garden Of Earthly Delights to represent the hierarchy of the agency?
These are so on point it lacks any insight. All of these have restated opinions that have been stated ad infinitum and don’t offer a new opinion. Try saying something new.
Enough is enough. These are never insightful and this one is aggressively unpleasant to look at. Virtually every comic I’ve seen from this person (I, like virtually every other commenter, fail to understand why these things keep being posted [your nephew?]) is high school quality. That is, they are all incredibly obvious [i.e. they make points that have already been made by thousands of other people] and obtuse [i.e. they don't make these points elegantly]. There is nothing aesthetically or intellectually rewarding here. No insight, just someone struggling to be clever and bold by sticking it ‘the biz’ (or however you want to permutate it) through obvious, vacant, vague innuendos. please ditch this.
Ari Emanual is nothing more than a sunny day liberal. Yes, I am sure he supports green cars and gay marriage, but on the truly important wages that effect people’s lives that he has direct control over such as salaries and unions he is as right wing as they come. True progressives believe in paying workers’ living wages. How can he justify fucking over his workers like this. What a joke he is worse than Palin. At least you know where she stands
Yeah he’s right… being an assistant at WME is as hellish as living through the Spanish Civil War.
I think it’s profoundly sad that no one seems to get the brilliant subtlety of Arthur’s cartoons.
The underlying statement to all of them is that Hollywood is itself creatively bankrupt, therefore not worthy of truly clever commentary.
Personally, I think Arthur is sitting on of a pile of amazingly complex, rich, clever pieces that’s he’s withholding as a personal act of performance art.
Welcome to WME’s PR machine.
HAHAHAHAH Truth to Power
@ Mike
How can something be obvious and vague at the same time?
Damn. I knew there was something wrong with me. Now I know. I’m a dimwit!
Seriously, Nikki. Why are you posting this crap? I know a lot of Hollywood hasn’t progressed past the junior high level of intelligence, but it’s insulting that you think your readers haven’t. After seeing the above “cartoon” and your comment, I question what category you fall in. Just stop posting this shit and you won’t have to scramble for a lame, asinine defense of it next time. Arthur sucks, and when he learns this simple fact everyone will be better off.
yeah, yeah, yeah nikki. thank you for attempting to pass along the bullshit that arthur told you. blah blah blah dimwits, blah blah blah goya. likely based upon rubens’ painting of the same name, based upon the greek myth of cronus. but seriously, what in the hell does it have to do with wme and unfair wages? is ari eating his assistants for fear that they’re going to take over one day? jesus! at least have ari’s face on saturn. maybe you somehow depict a young assistant agent being eaten. hell, i don’t know. but this just sucks. face it, arthur stole a piece of art and put words on it to explain what his own pictures could not – and you think it’s somehow mind-blowing commentary. words are your business, nikki. choosing artists, not so much.
I always look forward to Arthur’s latest opus. Not for the cartoon (inane, always lacking in wit or insight), but for the slew of commentary that inevitably (and quite rightly) follows. Keep ‘em coming Nikki…..
Hey gang, wanna play “Arthur”?
Just stencil in “William Morris” on this cartoon’s Saturn and “Endeavor” on Saturn, Jr., and you have in essence the same cartoon as Arthur’s inaugural effort, “Momentum Killer”!
But wait! You can get the same effect by plugging in “Paramount” and “Lesher”!
Or “Summer Box-Office” and “Awards Season”!
The wacky labeling fun never stops, I tell you! Thank you, Arthur!
