Listen to what Ben says about Tom Rothman. Oy vey! But the mogul — surprisingly — took it well. I hear Stiller even sent over T-shirts with Red Hour’s new Fox logo (I don’t want to spoil the punchline) to senior people on the lot. A Student of Hollywood is right on the money.
It’s amazing what you get when you put into a room a camera, a Final Cut system and a guy who laughs at his own jokes…
Ugh. This is funny? Ben – stick to getting slapped in the face by monkeys. That’s where you’re at.
Jack – That looked more like $8k than $800k to me. Don’t believe everything you hear in a spoof vid.
I found this to be very funny. This is a hell of a lot more creative and wittier than all those full page paid announcements they used to run in the trades. Every Hollywood success is somewhere on the top of the curve which inevitably heads downward… but what the fuck. Making people laugh is God’s work and the individuals who can keep a sense of humor and get it done in the movie theatres deserve support. All these jealous, negative egomaniacs ought shut up and figure out when they are tone deaf to some decent comedy because they are so wrapped up in their career shit or maybe got dinged by some big time talent when they were seeking movement forward for their own agenda.

“Making people laugh is god’s work”
What the fuck?” Ben Stiller now
doing gods work”.
Thats a good one.
I maintain that the creatives who make people laugh are doing something of a seriously divine nature. Apatow, Ramis in his day, the Farellis, Jerry Lewis long ago, etc. AND all the rest including Ben Stiller, etc.. whomever — if we don’t have funny pictures in the theatres, we are even more lost than we seem to be now.
I love Jerry Stiller & Anne Meara but I just don’t get their kid. I’ve tried to watch several of his films and at best they feel so meh.
And whether he paid $8000 or 800,000 to make this video it’s pretty much a waste…why isn’t he putting the time money and energy into something the public can see (and pay for)?
What’s nice about this is that Ben Stiller didn’t really give anyone in the studios any other option than to laugh at themselves.
