That’s the word from sports media outlets. Henry Thomas is a big deal: he’s #12 on HoopsHype’s agent rankings. He’ll be added to CAA Sports’ basketball division headed by Leon Rose. Thomas is is reportedly taking all his clients with him, bringing the three biggest stars of the NBA’s 2010 free agent class under one roof: Raptors forward Chris Bosh (Thomas), Heat guard Dwayne Wade (Thomas) and Cavaliers forward LeBron James (Rose). Thomas also reps Devin Harris and Udonis Haslem. The rumor that Thomas was joining CAA was first reported by industry Web site HoopsHype, and then added to by Sports Business Daily. Today, HoopsHype confirmed the purchase. CAA Sports already has three other mature divisions: football headed by Tom Condon and Ben Dogra, baseball led by Casey Close, and hockey topped by Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry.

Henry Thomas is a first class hack. He does not even control Dwyane Wade. Chris Bosch is not a superstar. Henry tried to partner with William Morris but not even they wanted much to do with him. Billy Duffy, Arn Tellum, Rob Pelink, Dan Fegan are all 100 times better then Henry. Henry is known to pay guys while they are in hight School and college. I’m surprised CAA feel for him
Sports agenting is an interesting game as most (all?) of the major leagues have caps on agents’ take of their clients league contracts, and it’s a lot less than the film standard of 10%. Not really knowing much more than that about it, that would lead me to guess that it’s an endorsements game.
CAA will be very sorry with this guy. He uses he raise card everytime he recruits an athlete. He does not fit into the CAA culture. William Morris had many deals for Dwyane but could not get answers or were turned down because Dwyane thought he was Michael Jordan. Henry would need to wait to get answers from a girl named Lisa or Dwyanes sister. Who is the last big time player Henry signed????? Dwyane, sign with one of the big 3, Tellum, Fegan or Duffy. CAA, run from this guy dont walk.
To sportsbiz: Who DOESN’T pay people to get clients? All the agents you mentioned do this so they are no better than Henry…He ain’t too shabby himself. BETTER is in the eye of the beholder..Obviously he’s the best for Dwade and his other clients or they would have jumped ship by now with it being such a competitive field. Why don’t you check the stats of the agents you mentioned and see who has the most turnover. Fegan has been terminated by some pretty good players (S Jackson, G Arenas). Duffy was just terminated by Carmelo, etc….
C’mon. What agent DOESN’T pay off someone to get clients? Check the stats, who has the most turnover? Fegan was terminated but Arenas who went on to do his own $100 mil deal. And you think he’s better than Henry? PLEASE…Obviously Henry is the right fit for DWade and his other clients otherwise they would have bounced by now. He has marketable buys so CAA is the perfect fit for him..it’s not about the agent, it’s about the product…the player…Melo left Duffy for CAA, he knew what was up..who does Fegan have? Tellem hasn’t done anything with D Rose and his other guys so wouldn’t go to him either. Wake up people! Stop bashing before you look at the big picture….
When David Falk sold his company he gave Michael Jordan and others go a piece. I bet DWade is getting nothing. Henry is a first class low life hack he cheats but doesnt suceed. Tellum, Duffy, Fegan, Duffy and Pelinka are big stars in the basketball agent world. Not Henry. As they say, he’s not a PLAYA…. The race card is his MO. CAA, run run run. Dont close the deal. You will be very sorry. I was once represented by Henry. It was HORRIBLE. He waited for the phone to ring and he has know real realtionships with the GM and owners that make things happen.
Henry tried to payoff OJ Mayo bug didnt pay as much as Bill Duffy. CAA how will you deal with these types of deals. Henry is Lisa still doing all the Dwade business. Henry what happens when Chris Bosch leaves? You know thats pretty close
I guess they put some more Reese’s Pieces in his new contract?
