EXCLUSIVE: This is the first image of Kevin Spacey as Jack Abramoff (with Barry Pepper as Michael Scanlon) in the independent film Casino Jack based on jailed Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff, responsible for one of the biggest political scandals to hit Washington DC since Watergate. Spacey just wrapped principal photography in the pic directed by George Hickenlooper and written by Norm Snider. (See my previous, Kevin Spacey Starring As Casino Jack.)

He looks nothing like Abramoff (not that anyone outside of DC is familiar enough with him to care). Why make this movie? We no longer trust our politicians, so material “exposing” their corruption no longer intrigues us (unless it involves murder and sex, which this story does not). Its been 30 years since Watergate, and there are still people who think audiences are interested in political scandal flicks.
He looks a lot like Kevin Spacey to me. Will they fix that in post?
I agree that he looks nothing like him… Though Spacey had the balls to play a 25 year old Bobby Darin, so this should be cake.
Gosh, Jack Ambramoff is such a HUGE part of American culture that this was a movie that HAD TO BE MADE!
How could they deny the public pressure to make this film?
Move over TRANSFORMERS box office records, here comes CASINO JACK!
Somebody get my sleeping bag.
I’m camping out for tickets!
Totally spot on. This film does not need to be made; films about toys from the 1980s need to be made. This is just taking valuable money away from more films by Michael Bay. When are they going to stop making smaller films that people who don’t masturbate to cartoons might appreciate?! WHEN WILL HOLLYWOOD GET IT??!!#!
The story’s amazing & Spacey’s a great actor. I’ll watch it.
Where’s the hat?
Ben Affleck should have played Abramoff.
“The story’s amazing & Spacey’s a great actor. I’ll watch it.”
That’s always a publicist’s word: Amazing. This is amazing, that’s amazing, he’s amazing, she’s amazing. Christ! Find a dictionary and start reading.
Yup. He’s still creepy.
Who gets to play Bush White House joy boy Jeff Gannon? Ever wonder why that guy hasn’t written a book???
What about Abramoff the movie producer? He made that awesome movie “Red Scorpion” with Dolph Lundgren remember? I met Abramoff in 1988 when he had an office on Wilshire he was really fat in those days. He lost a lot of weight and left showbiz for political wheeling and dealing, where the real money is. Now he’s in jail. There’s a lesson in there somewhere.
kevin, barry, kelly…..great cast….looking forward to great performances…..george is a superbly talented director….LOVED Factory Girl and Man From Elysian Fields. i’ll pay $12!!
Is this really news? Why are so interested in this movie, Nikki? You’re turning into a publicist for this. You make fun of Clooney for not being able to open a movie. Wait til you see how bad this thing bombs. Nobody really cares about this story.
Jack Abramoff’s Red Scorpion
This trailer remix of Jack Abramoff’s Red Scorpion is so hot, it stings.

Another movie by leftists that no one wants to see. Surely it will get an academy award nod, and surely the ratings will continue to plunge as most Americans ask, “who makes this crap.”
How about a film exploring Obama’s relationship with Tony Rezko? Or Obama suing Citi Bank on behalf of ACORN forcing Citi to give bad loans? Anyone? Hello?
Doesn’t matter, it’s Kevin Spacey. Good to see him back in films! Now if he’ll just do a black comedy or thriller again.
Jefcostello, you must be a stand-up comic, right? I love it when right wing wackos say that exposing any scandal, crime, treason or bogus war that implicates Republicans is the work of “leftists.” LOL.
I wonder who they got to play Tom Delay. Too bad Aliester Crowley is dead, he could have done Tom Delay in his sleep. Getting Hitler would be overkill, though only slightly. On the other hand, a flesh eating zombie could probably learn to imitate Delay fairly quickly. Suggestions?
Why make this movie?
from Wikepedia: “Abramoff was a top lobbyist for the Preston Gates & Ellis and Greenberg Traurig firms and a director of the National Center for Public Policy Research, a conservative think tank, and Toward Tradition. He was College Republican National Committee National Chairman from 1981 to 1985. He was a founding member of the International Freedom Foundation.”
Like most everyone else in Hollywood, Kevin Spacey is a left wing dupe who will go out of his way to make anyone or anything involved with “the other side” appear evil. Which is why they are making a movie about an absolute nobody.
