• This looks fantastic, but Danny Elfman’s scores are starting to sound way too much like Danny Elfman scores.

• I’ll admit up front to not liking most recent Tim Burton movies, particularly Charlie and the chocolate factory, but I loved his Batman, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands and Pee Wee, so I hope my dissapointment reads a little less like pure hateration, and more well…like hateration from dissapointment.

  Tim Burton and Johnny Depp need to be separated…this just looks boring and creepy. Not scary or dark, but creepy. This was the movie that was going to be running in Michael jackson’s blu-ray for the next 20 years…And Depp, the quintessential cool guy…Look, im a fan(ish)…and modeling your performance after angela landsbury identified the coolness of your process, and keith richards made it fun and relatable but whats this now…Willie Wonka AGAIN, mixed with a little Tom Petty doing a bunch of blow (aka, Tom Petty)?

  Tim Burton has the unique and unparralelled ability to take 150 million and make it look like a stylized 35 million done well. I know based on the past box offices, im probably the minority…but it looks suckey to me and I cant imagine looking forward to a Tim Burton movie again, if this gets validated…

  And lastly, because I’m not a fan in the least, Anne Hathaway. What an evil little duplicitous turd shes turned out to be btw, I don’t see America buying it for much longer and that absolute grind to a halt performace every second shes on screen in Get Smart was one of the worst ive seen in light fare cinema in years.

• I don’t get it. If this is a follow up to Alice in Wonderland (from what I’ve read), why does she fall down the hole again and drink the potion that shrinks her?? Didn’t she learn anything!!??!?

• Burton’s color palette looks so drab and lifeless. Even his brights seem to just blend in with the rest of the colors. Same thing with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And…too much CGI. But it’ll make loads of money, so who cares.

• Definitely different than I was expecting. Looks like the Joker fell into the Chocolate Factory. I like Burton’s unique style and all, but when he does it every time out, it can’t really be called unique anymore. Am I alone in thinking it could possibly be a pretty bland film when it’s all said and done?

• I saw some pictures from this awhile back and they were sheer brilliance. I could not wait to see more. What happened between then and now? I don’t like the look of Wonderland in this promo anywhere near as much.

  And I have to agree with damnit – Tim Burton and Johnny Depp need to be separated. Johnny Depp takes me right out of the moment – the minute he appears it’s just another Johnny Depp movie instead of a very cool new version of Alice. And I say this as someone who loved Edward Scissorhands to pieces.

  One more thing – that Cheshire Cat is just godawful. Either lose the cutesy Disney eyes or match the rest of the cat to them. But jump one way or the other.

• Tim Burton and Johnny Depp can both still make amazing movies. Even if no one will pay to see them (like “The Corpse Bride”) they are usually still entertaining, darkly wonderful films.

  The only problem I have with this trailer is… the trailer. It leads up with Alice going into Wonderland. And then… its about the Mad Hatter? There’s no resolution, it just switches the focus. It doesn’t tease, it misleads. I hope this trailer is a case of “use footage from these files, this is all we have ready for you,” rather than someone thinking this could be a good way to sell a movie.

• I was really excited to see this film based on promo pictures, but from the looks of this trailer, I think I’ll pass. Burton’s Chocolate Factory was awful and forgettable, and this appears to be so as well. I agree with previous posts: there’s way to much CGI that it’s unpleasant. I can see this being similar to the Speed Racer flop last year; audiences don’t get very hyped for CGI epics. Burton: please leave the originals alone!

• This looks awful. What made Tim Burton movies unique is completely gone because we’ve seen it a million times before (ditto with the Danny Elfman soundtrack). Also the CGI (particularly the Cheshire Cat) looks crappy and cheap.

• George Lucas get’s roasted for Indiana Jones and the new additions to the Star Wars franchise… why does Tim Burton get a pass for destroying two classic stories in Wonka and Alice?

  It’s a shame that todays kids will see these Burton’s versions of these tales and probably never read the classics they are based on.

• Oh look it’s an effete Johnny Depp mincing his way through another role. Tim Burton’s edge has been dulled to bulbous as he seems to do nothing these days but take credit for other’s work (Shane Acker) and regurgitate a very, very tired 80’s aesthetic.

  I will be doing other things on March 5, 2010. I would suggest you do too, like maybe read the book…..

• I’m so over the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp/Helena Bohnam Carter rehashing. They’re all talented in their own rights, and certainly have proven to be successful as a team. But seriously…can Disney be a little more creative in promoting this?

  Why is Disney completely ignoring Alice? She’s an incredible talent, and it seems like it’d make sense to build some excitement around her, perhaps pairing Johnny and Alice (Mia Wasikowska) in press instead of alienating the whole cast. At least it’s something less ho-hum than the same old Johnny Depp we’ve been seeing over and over again.
