She may have just locked down a reprisal of her role as Mother Focker for Universal (or now technically Grandmother Focker) along with the rest of the cast. But Barbra Streisand is also going back to her singing roots by performing at New York’s Village Vanguard Club on September 26th as a promotion for the release of her new CD of jazz standards and classics, “Love Is The Answer”. A hundred of her fans will see her for free at the Vanguard — where she last performed in 1961 as the opening act for Miles Davis at a time when it was the epicenter of the NYC jazz scene — if they pre-order the CD or register an entry blank free of charge. Pic from those ’60s days provided by her PR: I just hope the flacks don’t claim (again) that this is her final concert…

It’s too bad Streisand doesn’t return to her pop days and give some of these fraudulent “songbird(s)”(terrific album) a lesson in letting the voice carry the son, not the worn out techno beat of some hip, cool, tattoo head.
Thank you.
“where she last performed in 1961 as the opening act for Miles Davis at a time” – Did not know that. very cool. My mother was a huge Streisand fan when I was growing up.
The venerable Vanguard (which is the oldest jazz venue in the US), only holds 123 people,…so this will be quite an intimate affair for those few fortunate enough to stumble down that red staircase.
the concert will be out on blueray by christmas. I’m sure she will kick ass.
La Streisand shouldn’t have told anybody. Keeping it quiet would have been really cool, but now it’s going to turn into a, well, you know.
The lady can sing.
