I guess there’s a lot of truth about being nice to folks while you climb the ladder, because they will definitely get their kicks in on the way down.
My suggestion, get everyone that he’s ever pissed off together, and do a no-holds barred roast and broadcast it on NBC. Then maybe he’d have contributed something to the network.
“People fly higher, they begin to loose sight
But you can’t see very clearly, when you’re in flight
Well it’s high time
That you find
The same people that you must use on your way up
You might meet up…on your way down!” -Little Feat
Nina Tassler’s was better
Hilarious. Silverman is a schmuck. Glad he’s getting rolled.
Tell us that everyone knew. Talk about deadman walking. If everyone else knew that he was done for – which is obvious – then why did NBC wait around? It’s the worst part of being a lame duck.
Have to put blame where it goes.. Zucker hung the whole network out to dry for months as they negotiated and worked with a dead man at the wheel.. how hard would you work when all your peers know you’re doomed?
Poor Ben. All he’s got now is a new company and the 80 million he made when he sold Reveille. I’d still rather be him than Nina Tassler or Kevin Reilly. How’s that Boldly Going Nowhere pilot that Kevin Reilly just had to have going anyway? Oh yeah, it’s quietly going nowhere. Can’t wait for the new season of Til Death.
If ever there was someone allowed a snarky moment, it would be Kevin Reilly. But it was Jeff Zucker who undid his career long dream to be the head of NBC. Ben was just a willing and opportunistic pawn. I wish he’d ratchet it up to a higher level, but then that wouldn’t be in keeping with the meticulous career path he’s created for himself. A skill we all wish we posessed.
I’m still looking for the hit Kevin developed at FBC.
I thought Kevin Reilly @ Fox is a good move.
He was behind some of NBC’s better shows.
But he canceled King of the Hill when he went to Fox.
I used to work on KOTH. Now I’m out of work.
If you’re knocking Reilly because he hasn’t had a hit at FBC, you might as well blame him for the lack of hits everywhere. It’s not a situation unique to Fox. The guy was part of the success of Heroes (anyone remember what that show was watchable), Office, The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, ER and Homicide.
Why doesn’t anyone blame writers for not coming up with better ideas these days?
SIlverman is getting what he deserves…it’s called karma.
Fringe was definitely at least a double or triple for Fox, especially in young demos. Grew into a great show too. Lie to Me–not my favorite show by a large stretch–still opened and usually came in first or second in demos for its hour (without a lead-in), and with Shawn Ryan this season should be better. That’s not bad for a first season at the network and better than most.
ER and Homicide?
What role did he play on those shows? Was he at NBC then?
He was head of drama dev at NBC then.
“Why doesn’t anyone blame writers for not coming up with better ideas these days?”
Wow, ironically-named Voice of Reason, maybe you’re unaware that lots of writers write lots of really good scripts but it’s the network douchebag development people that decide what they want to buy. The greatest script ever can be languishing underneath some 22 year-old executive’s copy of People Magazine while he greenlights a total piece of crap that they shoehorn in an even bigger piece of crap talent that they have a deal with at the network. Sure, blame the writers cause they so totally suck and they’re the ones who actually select the scripts and put them on their TV networks.
Oh no wait, they don’t.
These guys need to start criticizing one another and start coming up with programming people want to see. It’s purely a distraction in this town to knock others when you have nothing to show yourself.
