Its amazing to read these posts…
There are already about 5-15 fantastic documentaries about the villias in this financial / war / housing / derivatives crisis that are out there.
But no mention of those….(Check out The Obama Deception).
Heres the test for Michael Moore. He really did sway to the left when he made Farenheit 9-11 but at least he DID mention Kaskihstan.
The REAL creators of the derivatives problem we now face were in fact Bob Rubin, Larry Summers, Alan Greenspan, and Hank Paulson IN THE 1990S!!!
I bet that not just one but of these men will NOT be mentioned in Michael Moores new film, given that they are now surrounding Barack Obama in the White House.
I would bet the farm on this one. Obama works for wall street. Moore works for the Weinstein brothers.
If you really want to understand the financial crisis, take 5 minutes to read the following article that was published in the New York Times way back in 1999.
http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/30/business/fannie-mae-eases-credit-to-aid-mortgage-lending.html
In paragraph 8, the prediction is made that the government will have bail out the financial industry. How could the author have known this almost a decade before it happened? Read the article and you’ll understand.
Just to give credit where credit is due–caravaggio the terrible is 100% accurate when he writes this: “The REAL creators of the derivatives problem we now face were in fact Bob Rubin, Larry Summers, Alan Greenspan, and Hank Paulson.” Summers should not be anywhere near the whitehouse, and Rubin deserves all the blame that can be shot his way. (Greenspan and Paulson are Republicans, so yes, they’ll definitely come under attack. )
That being said, caravaggio, Moore’s been quite critical of Clinton’s pro-corporate leanings in the past (check out his books “Downsize This,”) was disgusted enough with the Dems to endorse Nader in 2000, and he’s repeatedly blasted the Dems when they’ve gotten too pro-corporate. So I would expect Rubin & Summers to take at least a bit of criticism. If I’m wrong, you can say “I told you so.”
“we’re here to get OUR money back”? give me a break… Moore is totally taking advantage of the financial crisis to fatten his pockets and exploit himself even more. Doesn’t look like Moore is missing any meals in the recession
Michael Moore has officially jumped the shark.
RIP
Capitalism is a good servant but a horrible master. What happened is that very bright criminally bent scum of the earth bought themselves U.S. government. From there it was only a question how much they will steal for themselves and how much they will destroy in the process.
Equities market has been turned into hybrid of casino and a Ponzi scheme.
Now we live with the results and sadly many of the conservative fanatics that got hurt the most, still swear by unchecked capitalism in hope they too get a chance to “strike it rich”.Good luck fools.
Michael Moore rocks!
Mr. Moore, if you want to denounce capitalism, first give away all of your possessions, including your house, cars, clothing, and money (being an evil capitalist pig myself, I will gladly unburden you of your millions). Find some free land somewhere and build a mud hut without tools, and live off the land. Then and only then can you denounce capitalism, as capitalism has created and provided everything you own, including your silly little bullhorn. Then you can preach about the evils of capitalism without being a complete hypocrite in the process. How much are you charging per copy for your so-called “documentary”. If you sell one copy, you are just as much a participant of capitalism as the head of AIG.
People confuse documentary with news report.
A documentary is allowed to have a point of view and then use facts and evidence and dramatization to SUPPORT that POV.
In otherwords, a documentary can’t be FICTIONAL, but it can be someone’s truth … even when other’s think that POV is wrong, or think there’s OTHER evidence to contradict that POV.
I believe Moore is telling the truth as he sees it.
Propaganda is the purposeful spreading of information or DISinformation.
It’s a matter of opinion which of those Moore engages in.
