“I’m really just a D-girl, so I wouldn’t comment on that.” — CBS Entertainment prez Nina Tassler when asked today at the TCA about Ben Silverman’s NBC/Uni exit. (In a magazine interview, Silverman had referred to rival network entertainment presidents like Tassler, McPherson And Reilly as “D-girls”.)
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

It took me a moment to research this term.
It appears a D-girl has several meanings.
- a girl from the Soprano’s episode
- a development girl for film, it sounds demeaning
- a dope girl from the hip hop song.
Personally I hope she’s all woman and kicks NBC’s ass.
You can start by buying one of my scripts or plays Go D girls go.
CBS doesn’t buy scripts from wackjobs on websites. They typically develop series from established professionals geared towards indiscrimate nursing home residents. D-Girls are usually young girls.
D-girl: a female, often in her twenties or thirties, who works in film/TV development and who commonly has a heightened, often delusional, sense of self importance and power because she works for a high level exec, producer or studio (and because in truth she suffers from deep-seated insecurities). In reality, the D-girl is rarely as sharp as she thinks she is and always more replaceable. See “D-boy” for her male counterpart, a similar though equally unique form of douche.
really 8and5? has this site really turned into a place where wanna-be’s and the biz-illiterate try to peddle their shlock? do you really think that some kind of miracle will happen and someone might want to read one of your 8 or 5? Really? go do some more “research” on how the biz operates.
Fade In:
Some crack den in the Pacific Pals. Noon.
Bong Silverman is trying to punch in the numbers on his CrackBerry.
BS: (no pun intended)
Nina, Nina, this is Bong Silverman. I have a major sponsor hooked up to a new format…it’s all about how people fail forward.
(Audio: If you would like to make a call please hang up and try again)
BS: (pun intended)
Nina, is Steve there? Nina it’s me Bong! Pick up.
Let’s see if some real writers can add to this opening…
Silverman deserves the knives – treating real pros in this Biz like that and then expecting everyone to play nice when U get canned? Oh and what’s the deal with Diller hiring him? Insight? Anyone?
I only comment on DD-girls.
What a classy response from Nina Tassler. Silverman’s remark was so insulting. Let’s hope he never has to pitch to her in the future..
dc79
No.Let’s hope he does.
@Russ Meyer = the best comment of the day.
(and I write for strong females) – so everyone can just take it in stride and laugh and not have a beer summit…
Hey dc79…No, NO! Let’s hope like hell he does pitch to her and she secretly records it on camera, then slaps it on YouTube with a special copy to Nikki!

HEE!
Birther’s have their impossible dream, this is mine!
Of whatever…with his D-girl remark Silverman was just showing his jealousy that the d-girls were sleeping with the same guys he wanted to hit.
How exactly is Ben going to have something to pitch at CBS? The unending mediocrity and snoozearama procedurals are not exactly in his limited wheelhouse. The D-girl thing isn’t unwarranted. You don’t see a whole lot of dudes over there but they are more like d-girl’s grandmas.

Oh freakin hilarious when I read this at work. (For different reasons, obviously). Oh man, funny shite!
It would have been classier if she had held her tongue.
