“Amy a-QUEEN-oh”? It’s not Amy a-KEEN-yo? (Or wasn’t Ken listening?)
You’ll note that when he speaks of “unite”, he’s talking about with AFTRA, not within SAG. His backers, Unite For Strength, forced this internal SAG conflict and have no plan nor intent to mend the fences that they tore down. (And they call Membership First militant!)
If you think it’s a good idea to merge with our back-stabbing, once-friendly sister union to save their financial ass (the guild which has price-undercut SAG so badly that 25 new TV pilots are shot AFTRA, to SAG’s 5); if you think that you shouldn’t get to vote if you don’t make a certain amount of money per year (you can vote for Ken so that he can help take away your voting privileges!); if you think that’s the way to do business, then Ken is obviously your guy. Because THAT’S what Unite For Strength stands for.
Geesh, what a horrible freeze-frame image! “The new face of SAG”? I shudder at the thought. (Not that Rosenberg was any Adonis.)
I really am trying to rise above all of the partisan silliness but seriously, the UFS “platform” is so disingenuous and devoid of a plan or any facts that it is simply absurd.
Interestingly and perhaps tellingly…like the USF website, this Ken Howard video has comments disabled.
Anne Marie Johnson’s does not and USF supporters have slandered and assailed her and MF and their comments have not been censored or cut off.
Experience, Transparency, Facts and the Best Interests of SAG Membership vs. Lies, No Plan, No Leadership Experience and taking credit for the work they had little if anything to do with?
I choose Anne Marie Johnson and Connie Stevens. While I am in agreement with many of MF’s views, I also voted for some independent candidates and for a few UFS candidates as well. We need Unity in SAG before we can merge with anything…
Bring on the debate!
In Solidarity and Sincerity,
David Anthony Pizzuto
Regular working actors, like myself, who vote for UFS are like the poor & ignorant who vote for republicans; they are simply being exploited.
Name brand actors who vote for UFS do so out of self interest. They don’t get paid scale anyway. UFS stands for the stupid and the selfish. No wonder us ACTORS will probably vote them in.
I don’t like the way UFS came to power. Plain and simple it was a coup. There really is no discussion needed past that one point.
I look forward to not voting for you, Ken.
Watch his eye: He’s reading off cue cards.
He looks and reminds me a little of George Bush. Which means Ned Vaughn is his Dick Cheney.
I have a sticky suspicion he is trying to be installed as President of SAG while those truely in power will make all the decisions. Ask yourself if the NED, a man who has for a fact worked closely with the AMPTP, if he is going to resign his power to a guy who can’t even pronounce the name of his running mate correctly.
I smell more BS. We have the AMPTP in our house. Let’s not solidify their base. Get rid of them. No more Bush and no more Cheney style tactics.
AMJ all the way!!
Clearly, given that the comments sections of both the Unite for Strength website AND the Youtube video are shut off, Ken Howard and the entire U4S group simply don’t get what the Internet is and what its potential is.
So much for Mr. Howard and U4S “listening” to actors.
But hold on a minute. If we vote for him, we can all get back to work, right? Right Ken? Hello? Is this thing on?
I do think, however, it is a question Anne-Marie needs to answer: to what extent is uniting with AFTRA necessary? To avoid the realities of this question on MembershipFirst’s side is suicidal unless SAG plans to find a legal way to put all actors and performers under it’s union’s roof and forever take AFTRA out of the picture.
Actually, “member”, he does look like Cheney, and his Haliburton/Blackwater is U4S/AFTRA.
In Anne Marie Johnson’s video she mentions actors under one union. I wonder what the plan is there. Either way, I’d still trust AMJ to do a merger or whatever properly over UFS and Ken Howard, who keep saying they want a merger but don’t give any details on how they will handle the different pension and health plans (a main reason for mergers being voted down in the past).
He’s sitting in front of a book case of hardcover books, giving the appearance of being a learned man. The only discernable title? Harry Potter. Nice.
Must be easy to LISTEN Mr. Howard when you’ve turned off the comments section of your video at it’s youtube page.
youtube is a public hosting space for videos where the youtube community can and will comment–unless you choose your right to silence them. In choosing that right you have made it very easy for me to NOT choose you as a candidate.
If it was an election for a coward you could certainly have my vote.
Well, ONE reason MF fought the merger with AFTRA was that they were trying to stop the rug being pulled out from under us. Why merge with a union (yes, I’m also an AFTRA member) that is intent on giving away everything to make it more palatable for management?
Anyone notice the funny quote concerning comments on the UFS site?
No Comments so far ?
Like gas stations in rural Texas after 10 pm, comments are closed.
The funny part is they mention Texas, a Right to Work State. Where a NU person can work on all the Union shows they want to and not have to join or pay dues.
He even judged a talent competition for a beauty pageant???
Lordy, Ken, I don’t think that was a UNION JOB.
Do you really consider that experience as part of yoru professional acting resume? If so, THAT is the problem with UFS. They think everyone belongs in a union, just like AFTRA–Broadcasters, reality show hosts, and pageant judges. They view it as all the same skill.
For actors, this is insulting. SAG should represent actors, all the actors, all the shows.
AFTRA can take Ken and their other non-union beauty pageant judges and go home.
And, what kind of watered-down contract will Sir Tommy be supporting and trying to ram down our throats in two years (AGAIN!) — And, still, not one mention of the horrible situation with the MPTF!
Ken, thanks so much for telling me about your resume. Who is your agent? Maybe you can refer me. I am developing the big screen version of “The White Shadow”. I’ve already attached Willian H. Macy and Felicity Huffman as leads. We’re shooting in Bulgaria. Blagodarya.
