Elias scares the hell out of me.
They ALL scare me. I can’t see what Elias thinks he’s offering us, but Wells and his crew do not come across as anything more than opportunists, taking advantage of this vacuum to seize control and keep the WGA running in a manner that keeps the studios and the top earners happy.
Does Wells ever address the fact that as Executive Producer of “West Wing” (and while President of the WGA) he asked the writing staff to take a pay cut in the contacts they had signed?
(If I have the story wrong please let me know, but that’s how it’s been portrayed: The then-current WGA president moving against writers in support of producers.)
Jeez, anybody other than middle-aged white males…
Wells is a Producer and has more to gain by staying tight with the AMPTP than fighting for writers. Plus he screwed us when he opened his trap in support of the DGA deal during our strike — it was not his place to speak.
My vote will be against Wells more than anything else.
Nikki, do you have the ability to put up a poll here to see which way readers are leaning?
In politics, as in war, the leader you want is the guy who will do anything to win the war. Based on his track record, John Wells is that leader. He will do ANYTHING to win, even shoot his own troops.
