EXCLUSIVE: I’m told that ICM’s actor Christoph Waltz who won Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival for playing a Nazi in Inglourious Basterds (and is a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination) has now been cast as villain Chudnofsky in Sony’s The Green Hornet opposite Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz. Since Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds came out — and crossed the $100M mark this weekend – Waltz has been offered a lot of big movies by a lot of big directors. And he’s getting big bucks now. How great he’s found success at age 52. Big breaks like this keep actors in Hollywood still hopeful…

So is this a good thing or a bad thing? Gondry’s good, but the name Seth Rogen installs fear in this dude’s heart. Too many mediocre comedies, nothing much else. So I don’t know if Waltz, the find of the year and probably the new Alan Rickman, can save this thing.
Awesome…so friggin awesome, really don’t care about the role but, he totally deserves it, the success I mean, way to go Mr. Waltz
LOVED him in IB!! “It’s a bingo!” I don;t want him to get typecast as playing villians. There is so much more to him.
yes, it keeps actors in Hollywood still hopeful. Not actresses. Does this ever happen to actresses? I guess the closest equivalent would be Julianne Moore striking it big at 40?
actresses get the reverse, they get to be famous and overpaid when they are in their 20s for having a nice set of ta-tas…see Megan Fox for example
Chudnofsky? Can we assume this is just a made up villain for the movie? I’ve never heard of him but I’m not a Green Hornet expert either.
He was fantastic in Inglorious Basterds. I’m glad to see him getting the chance to be seen in more American films. Kudos to Quentin Tarantino for casting mostly European actors in his latest great film!
Very cool.
I hope his Green Hornet villain is at least half as much fun as his Basterds villain.
He wanted the role, he needed the role . . .GREEN HORNET will be fine!!!
Tarantino said of Christoph Waltz “you gave me my film”
and Christoph Waltz replied, “you gave me my career back”
I was blown away also by Christoph’s performance in Basterds – I do hope that he will have other roles besides a villain, he’s got an amazing complexity and is damned attractive to boot. I don’t dare hope that maybe he’d be in a Batman film, but I’d love it. All the best to him, and I hope he wins every award going for his role.
confirmed or not confirmed still a movie to watch for
He was amazing, I cannot believe how well this actor performed. Well done, well done indeed.
a truely great actor,a masterpiece of acting!delicat yet strong indeed!chapeau mr.waltz!!!!!!!!
Just where did this bloke come from!!?? he`s absolutley amazing, what a performance, mad as a bag of cats but charming with it. I hope we see more of Christoph, im sure we will. The true scale of his performance in Inglorious is not yet realized.
With the Oscar a shoe-in, Waltz will have won everything in sight. Kudo’s to Tarantino for finding him and propelling him to international stardom. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Hopefully the two of them do another movie together since they obviously click.
Christoph you are the best actor I ever seen, that’s true
Inglorious Basterds is a real stinker of a film yet Chrisoph Waltz’s performance is truly outstanding! If it wasn’t for him, I’d have left the cinema long before the credits. It has got to be one of the greatest performances ever. Mr Pitt was lucky to be sharing the same screen as Mr Waltz.
I am so looking forward to the movie. I cannot wait! I waited ten years for them to do a movie since I heard on again and off again rumors they were planning to do a movie. They don’t even have a trailer yet. But good news is I just purchased the new GREEN HORNET book by Terry Salomonson called THE GREEN HORNET: A HISTORY OF RADIO, MOTION PICTURES, COMICS AND TELEVISION (if I got the exact title correct) and at 816 pages I should be very knowledgeable on the subject by then. And it should retain my craving for the Green Hornet until December.
Too bad he could not have been in the 1966 television series. Rogen is enough to ruin anyone’s style. I don’t think this picture is going to make it.
I too have the Grams/Salomonson book on The Green Hornet. It really does reveal everything about the comic character. I recommend everyone read the book before going to see the movie. You’ll have a deeper understanding about the movie. Else it would be like seeing an X-Men movie for the first time and having never read an X-Men comic book.
