After just 2 airings, CW shut down production today. “I think we’ve earned the dubious distinction of the first cancellation of the season,” an insider said. It begain airing Sepember 16th at Wednesday at 9 PM. Only 1.4M saw the first outing, and only 1M the second.

ashton kutcher is the TV version of george clooney. nobody is interested but people keep throwing money at them. too much politics and not enough entertainment.
bummer. I liked that show
Katalyst has not had a hit since beauty and geek.
Wow it’s a good thing they killed off Reaper last season so that they could make room for groundbreaking programming like this. Wonder if they’ll replace it with an encore of Gossip Girl or something — I mean ANTM’s encore does such a good job of filling a spot next to Smallville on Fridays now.
Well, it was probably the least inspired idea for a tv show ever.
no one is surprised.
they only shot two of the damned things?
I caught one episode. I wouldn’t say it was bad, just very blah.
The second cancellation of the season – Parks and Rec or The Leno Show?
What the heck CW??? I was getting around to watching the first couple episodes on Tivo Today! Today! Hopefully this deflects some of the heat Melrose may pick up for it’s undeservedly sad ratings-that show needs to be on television.
Now can we get the CW canceled? If there’s ever been a more useless excuse for a network, I don’t know what it is.
Is there a future for the CW? The only shows that have any real ratings and DVD sales success are leftovers from the WB, and they are likely ending after this season. Can the network continue to limp along with the meager successes it has?
“1.4 mil sounds like a good numbers for the CW.”
Thats a common statement about every show on the CW. What it really means is, if a particular CW series has whats considered “respectable” ratings for that network was on any of the major networks or better cable networks, it would’ve been canceled long ago.
With CW’s spin machine on overdrive this season (seriously, did they hire extra minds to come up with their press releases? I don’t remember them being so vocal last year), I’m surprised. I WAS expecting them to brag about TBL:
“The Beautiful Wife came #1 in its night for the least amount of viewers!!!!
The critics have come out in droves to praise how horrible this show was!
Quote Entertainment Weekly: ‘TBL makes me miss Knight Rider. And that thought makes me suicidal.’
TBL also nabbed the #1 spot for the least talked about show.
Quote Matt Roush of TVGuide (one of the most savvy TV-viewers: ‘The Beautiful Life? Is that the one with Roberto Benigni?’
Join us next week as Ms. Barton tries to act in yet another episode!”
Sorry, I had too much fun with that. However, I wouldn’t have put that past them this season.
This pilot was terrible. Glad to see it go. Thank you for taking Mischa Barton back out to the dump.
Many good people lost their jobs, ya bunch of snarkmonkies. Kelley, Giaudrone and some very talented writers fought hard to make a good show but The CW wants nothing new on the air remotely watchable by sentient beings.
Very true, Joe. This is all about the CW hopelessly trying to pander to their teen and young adult audience rather than trying to make a really good show. Vampire Diaries, for instance, is better than this was…not that it’s good. It’s such a relentless barrage of contemporary music and coolspeak, that any semblance of an intelligent, coherent show quickly gets lost in the static.
Maybe the CW should follow the lead of places like AMC and FX and go for quality rather than buzz…is that too much to ask? Apparently it is, although it’s clear that their current strategy is NOT working…
i love that show
I CANT BELIEVE THEY SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!!! I LOVED THAT SHOW!
