Well what I don’t get is how Taylor Swift was ready to go backstage with a microphone when Beyonce introduced her…. when did they plan that? I guess winners already know they are going to win, so I guess that sort of makes sense. But reminds me of Oscars when they brought back on the winners of best song so they could give the speech they didn’t get to give because they turned off her mic.
It could be real, could not be.
The Oscar moment with Glen and Marketa happened right after a commercial break. They won the award, show cut to commercial, and when the show came back from commercial Jon Stewart brought them out. They were already back stage doing press, so I have a hard time believing that was pre-arranged.
I happen to know as fact it was a publicity stunt. It’s a signature trademark of the MTV Awards each year. Think back people (hello… wardrobe malfunction, which was produced byt MTV). Each year , they need a moment otherwise nobody would talk about this stupid and meaningless show.
And you people think all the “conspiracy nuts” are right-wingers. More proof that people think everyone is like them. In this case, cynical and pathetic.
Kanye West is an ego-maniac. I find it hilarious that another ego-maniac called him a “jackass.”
This of course assumes it really happened. Maybe the lap-dog-left-wing-media decided with the left-wing-ego-maniacs in the White House to ‘allow this to slip’ so their ego-maniac boss would look human. It is how they behave.
I find it hard to beleif that the Obamassiah would let that out without having planned it. It’s just not his style. The best part, is, few are looking at him. The media takes the heat (willingly), and Obamassiah appears to be human while appearing to have made an offhand comment, which never happens with him.
I’m very mixed on this. Yes the Kanye-Taylor incident could have been staged, but I’m not completely sold. I don’t think Kanye’s people would have wanted the vicious backlash that he has gotten from this; they would be very stupid if they didn’t anticipate what would happen when you rip on Middle America’s sweetheart. Taylor Swift, after all, is one of the best selling artists of 2008 and mostly likely for 2009 as well; going after her would pretty much be suicide.
I do think that MTV planned for the opening Jackson tribute, Twilight cast and trailer, Lady GaGa performance, and the Lil Mama interruption to be their attention getters. But when the Kanye thing happened, they excitedly ran with the drama and hyped it up as much as they could.
It’s not a publicity stunt. Nobody in Hollywood is that creative.
It is what it is – a jackass who wants the world to revolve around him.
But that won’t satisfy you conspiracy theory nut cases so I’ll leave you to your delusional world. Be sure to write when you get work.

someone thought it would generate publicity like porn director Michael Lucas did within the porn industry when he did basically the same thing back in March at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. I realize that it’s hard to believe that there are gay men who watch and pay attention to and are influenced by what happens in the gay porn industry but it is true. It’s true.
If this was a publicity stunt I am appalled! Though I could understand it since MTV’s ratings have been going DOWNHILL for sometime now. But the thought that they would subject the public to this DEBACLE for RATINGS is APPALLING! I hope and pray this is not a fact. If I find out that, Kanye and his HOE of the MONTH, Taylor and her management (she is a young CHILD {yeah, 19 is STILL a YOUNG CHILD}orchestrated this, I will further have PROOF why I never watch awards shows! Is it any different than the STAGED SO-CALLED REALITY shows that MANY are watching as I speak!!!
This is the best kind of publicity, the kind that generates discussion, debate, discourse days after. Fake or not, it’s a win-win for VMAs, Taylor Swift and… yes, even Kayne — though he might not get invited to meet the Queen anytime soon.

I knew it was a publicity stunt from the start – anyone notice it happened right at the start of the show? And ratings suddenly shot up for a show that had been bleeding ratings for years.
And the show itself was gowdawful – I had it on in the background at my house and when the most exciting thing all night is a middling tune by Green Day – well, need I say more.
It just shows it isn’t just digital downloading that’s killing the mainstream music industry.
“Beyonce’s amazing video”? Has anyone seen that thing? She ought to be embarrassed, it was complete garbage.
I think she had the biggest selling CD of the year, I doubt her mom bought more than a few copies.

Because … THERE’S STILL … and even more so now than ever before … no such thing as Bad Press – especially when everybody loves you for apologizing sooooooooooo profusely. (Big K hasn’t had this much air time since the last time he really did get biggy foot-in-mouth.) Exposure with the mass-audience (and keeping your presence in their faces) is the absolute Holy Grail in Hollywood – (no matter what it costs you in the long run).
Publicity stunt is hardly the question. What would have happened if the winner had been black, and a white artist stole the mic on national television proclaiming another white artist’s video to be the greatest? Hmmmmmm
I assure you it was not a publicity stunt. Seeing Taylor backstage after the slight, crying and needing her makeup redone, and calming her down prior to her next performance wouldn’t have been part of this. It would have been brilliant if it was a stunt but it wasn’t.
Maybe it was a work or not, I don’t care more. The ones it benefited is Kanye West and Taylor Swift.

This couldn’t possibly have been a publicity stunt. Why would Kanye and his reps want him to lose countless fans? And do you really think singers Kanye/Taylor/Beyonce can act that well? Sorry to all the conspiracy theorists out there, but you’re clearly mistaken.
The facts are these:
1. Kanye West has exhibited asshole behavior many times has said on the record that he “loves to be the center of controversy.”
2. Taylor Swift is a “Hanna Montana” wannabe and needs a boost to her career so they give a country artist a VMA.
3. Kayne and Swift have the same reps.
4. Beyonce is getting backlash for being over-exposed.
5. Jay Leno needs a boost for this crappy show.
6. Leno and West are owned by the same company NBC/UNI Music
7. Swift is booked on The View the next day (win or lose?) and West is booked on the first night of Leno’s shitfest with Jay-Z, Beyonce’s husband.
So Kayne did this and it helped everyone’s career with all these behind-the-scene connections and it just a big coincidence?
