UPDATES Michael Bay: “I Don’t Condone Crew Letter Or Megan Fox Quotes”
UPDATES Michael Bay’s Crew Bitchslaps Megan Fox
Enter Megan Fox’s flacks into the fray between the Transformers franchise actress and the pic’s director Michael Bay and the pic’s crew members. (Gee, ya think this all might be timed to the soon-to-be-released DVD?) Anyway, Megan’s publicist gave this non-statement to EW: “I have spoken with the parties involved privately. I am very fortunate to be involved in this amazing franchise and look forward to Transformers 3.” Interesting that now everything is private after Megan started the brouhaha by going public in the first place.
Meanwhile, Megan’s flack has provided the media another letter, this time signed and defending the actress from a production assistant. He writes:
My name is Anthony Steinhart and I have worked on both Transformers movies and have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Fox.
I read the letter by the three unnamed crew people and was blown away by their description of Ms. Fox. Especially, since I am the one usually getting Ms. Fox at her trailer. I have personally never been nor ever witnessed Ms. Fox being rude or inconsiderate of people’s feelings or the work to be done. Everyone is entitled to their good days and bad. Contrary to popular belief, she is like us (human) and has both good and bad days as well. Working on the Transformers movies can be intense at times and sometimes intense situations cause intense moments.
Some of the examples the three unnamed writers give as evidence of Ms. Fox and her horrible attitude are so ridiculous.
It’s unfortunate the grip didn’t want to bring his daughter to set because Megan Fox wasn’t nice and not the fact that we had a closed to set. No visitors unless approved by the UPM [unit production manager]. That is what the call sheets have always said. By the way, Ms. Fox wished my 12-year-old brother a happy birthday over the phone while we were shooting in New Mexico. Not so heartless…
It’s also unfortunate that she didn’t attend any of the “15” parties, but I clearly remember her hanging out in New Mexico with some of the crew and watching her get hounded by passers-by as she walked through the hotel lobby and being nothing but gracious to her fans. Also isn’t it refreshing to hear that she doesn’t need to be a part of the party machine that sometimes swallows people whole, only to spit them out on the front page of every magazine. And incidentally, if these crew members were at the wrap party, I only saw 2 cast members there. Granted I wasn’t there the whole night, but I was there long enough to know that the others probably weren’t going to show.
I also remember walking with her through the hordes of people lined up, while we shot at Princeton and she signed autograph after autograph. She signed many publicity photos, magazines, pieces of white paper for crew members and their families. Now I know that isn’t the same as curing a disease, but if we are to take anything an actor/actress says or does to personally, then I fear we have far greater problems on our hands.
Unfortunately, I don’t always keep up with or hang on to quotes and/or quips “actresses” say, so I wasn’t familiar with the incident that incited the tasteless letter, but none-the-less leave the war of words to those involved. No need to drag her name through the mud and at the same time, unknowingly, bring others down.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Okay, so this has gone from her calling the man who made her career “Hitler” to a battle of “they said/they said.”
Personally, I think a little honesty on the part of Ms. Fox’s publicity flacks would have nipped this in the bud. All they had to do was say: “Listen, she’s not that bright, and doesn’t know when to shut the hell up. Things like this are going to happen until Congress legalizes the use of Cattle-Prods by publicists.”
Plus a male PA can be, and no doubt will be, accused of all sorts of bias in this issue if you know what I mean.
I didn’t think it was possible, but they’re making Michael Bay look all magnanimous.
Heh. I like the way he uses the word “actresses”–in quotation marks.
Blah blah blah.
Obviously, the three-crew-member letter was written by Bay. Notice how most of the “crimes” that letter accuses Fox of are committed against Bay, not the rest of the crew.
Besides, Bay is known for being a douche. No actor works with him more than once unless it’s a sequel (with the exception of Affleck).
I never thought I’d see the day when a PA would be the defender of choice for a slapped down actress. What is Hollywood coming to?!
BTW, While Megan certainly could learn a lesson or two about the art of SHUTTING HER MOUTH, she isn’t as bad as Bay (er, his people) claim. My fiance worked with her earlier this year and said she was gracious and cool. And to her credit, at least she speaks freely, not limiting interviews like most other stars today.
I fell asleep during the second paragraph. Is there anything worth writing about any of these people? I vote NO.
Being nice to the fans is not the same as being respectful to the crew. One is your public self, the other is likely to be more indicative of the real you. there are actually stars bigger than Megan Fox who can handle both situations with grace.
I wonder what Megan Fox did to this lucky little PA to get him to write this …
nice
That cheap soap-opera lasted for so long, Nikki.
Interesting and disappointing at the same time for many people who admire him-including myself-that Spielberg gives jobs to
white-trash like Michael Bay and Megan Fox.
Anthony Steinhart just earned himself a handy.
curious, because a set pa(anthony steinhart imdb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1762929/) “usually getting ms. fox at her trailer” would be a violation of the DGA contract that the film(s) was operating under.
So was this a paid public anouncement
Screw all the nay-sayers – Megan is HOT! Yeah she’s human and makes mistakes – but fuggitaboutalldat! The babe is bangin!!!
I dunno she looks and acts like a bonafide bitch to me. Where most people have ocassional bad moments, she has ocassional good moments. I’m pretty sure this defense WAS a paid public announcement or simply an adoring fan with rose tinted glasses.
Is that as high up on the food chain Megan could get? A P.A. oh please.
Oh, who cares, really? Megan Fox is a very dull subject. She may be attractive in a Frat boy fantasy Maxim magazine porn star kind of way, but she is no actress of substance nor are the movies she appears in. I mean, who cares, really?
Right or wrong- this guy, Anthony Steinhart, has a pair. The three supposed crew members on the other hand should just let it go. If you think the “offenses” she maybe did are bad, so what. We’ve all seen and experienced much worse. In my experience, the actors are often the nicest ones on set (Patrick Swayze, I still have a collection of old coins from him years ago – never expected a gift, but I was touched). But if they don’t want to hang out with you after shooting or say hi, who cares. You let it roll off your shoulders. You’re not getting paid to be buddies. Get over it.
Be a professional. People will respect you for it.
shes hot… thats all i needed to know about her.
This guy was barely there on the first one and a political
hire on the second one…he’s doing some kissing right now..
Lemme guess people…”Ms. MEGAN FOX IS THE WRITER! MEGAN FOX IS REALLY ANTHONY STEINHART.” ?!?!
Who cares. Heard she’s as dumb as rocks but she’s also an actress sooo…. Heard he’s an a-hole but he’s a director soooo…..
She’s dumb but hot. He’s an a-hole but makes (sometimes) mind-numbing movies that are sometimes entertaining.
This is Hollywood people. Let it all go! No one takes us seriously. We’re in the ENTERTAINMENT F-ING INDUSTRY!!
Seriously men are worse than women. If men feel slighted (and they usually do, the fragile flowers), they will spread the nastiest most vile rumors. Crew guys are demonstrating themselves to be the lowlife rednecks they have the rep of being. Those guys can be very openly insulting and gossipy. Be happy you have work and get a life. Michael Bay apparently should clean up his act, actors aren’t there to entertain the crew, and Megan Fox hopefully will work with a better caliber of folks and stop making trash films. A male actor wouldn’t be trashed to this degree, and certainly not sexually, for being outspoken. Nikki, you know what it is to be a woman who tells it like it is. What’s up with all this nonsense.
The saddest part is that none of these people are able to write a proper English sentence. Have all these letters been written on a Blackberry?
Shameful. There are so many things wrong with just this paragraph below. However the funniest is that he put “actress” in quotes. I agree with that sentiment at least.
Forgetting the fact that this poor, lowly PA was put-upon to sign (because there’s no way legal didn’t author this) that letter. What’s most hilarious is that he never actually counters any of the contentions that the crew members previously made.
For example, in one sentence he says he has never witnessed her being rude. But then right after that he talks about her having “bad days” and then admits that there can be “intense moments” on set. So…then she has been rude, I take it.
Then he talks about seeing her hang out with the crew, but never actually disputes the fact that she skipped out on no fewer than 15 cast/crew parties. And then he ties her absence into the “party scene,” when clearly someone who goes out clubbing a la Lindsey Lohan is a completely different situation than someone who hangs out with the rest of the cast and crew (like going on the trip to the pyramids on a day off that Michael Bay arranged).
Finally he talks about only seeing two crew members at the wrap party, but admits that he wasn’t there the whole time.
In short, although it’s a great PR attempt at counterin bad press, the statement doesn’t actually contradict anything that the three crew members previously wrote about Megan.
Which kind of leads one to believe that, if this is the best counter-argument they can come up with, then everything negative that was written about her was probably true.
Neither saint nor sinner… such is the reality…
It seems that no one associated with these films can write a grammatically correct statement.
C’mon, get a life. Does anyone honestly think that people who buy “Transformers” tickets give a shit about human relations?
