Back in May, CAA signed Anthony Hopkins back from Endeavor, which only had him since November 2008. But Tony has been at every major agency, and more than once. Then he left CAA this month. Then he signed with UTA. Confused? So am I. But he’s still an Academy Award winner. So I heard Hopkins got a standing ovation when he made a surprise visit to the UTA staff meeting this morning. I’m told he will continue with his UK agent Duncan Heath and his lawyer Mitch Smelkinson.

Maybe he’s playing his own game of musical chairs to the strange rhythms in his head.
Just curious – which agency put him in FREEJACK (opposite Mitch Jagger)?
Another jumper… Really, kudos for that? I’m curious what Sir Anthony (he is knighted right?) finds so bothersome about agents. Hmmmm….
Maybe they can put him in a Hannibal Lecter videogame. Good luck, UTA.
UTA should have ol’ Tony Hopkins inhabiting the same roles as Michael Caine is. First and foremost get him in a franchise, preferably a DC or Marvel one, again like Caine.
They should also be getting him in a room with more young directors. There should be plenty of meaty roles for an actor of his caliber.
He may be a handful. But who isn’t?
Wow, three firms within 1 year. Is that a record for such a heavy hitter? I hope he’s happy and remains productive under his new agency.
Best wishes to Tony in finding rep that will do him justice.
Another great UTA victory, well deserved also.
Hello Tony. Your agency merry-go-round indicates you’re unhappy with the current state of your career. It’s very obvious to me that you miss playing me. I was your greatest part. It’s time Tony. Time to play me again. Call Dino De Laurentis and tell him you’re ready. You could have saved yourself a lot of aggravation and agent-changing if you had simply realized this a few years ago. If Ted Tally won’t write another book about me you can still do another movie about me. They have these very talented people known as screen writers and they won’t need another novel of my culinary adventures. I look forward to seeing your next performance at my local cinema.
Ted Tally was the screenwriter. Thomas Harris wrote the novel.

Tony is a first class nut; OR what is known as a “representative malcontent” of the highest order. Prior to being represented by the brilliant Rick Nicita, his reps during the previous five years were at least 5 different agents! CAA did a bad job of trying to keep him, this is true–they had checked out and had no further interest. That combined with a changing market and Tony’s overreaching idea of himself, and his natural “classic representative abuser” dna, all predicted this marry go-round. By my guess, it is not over yet!! To further state the case–he fired his excellent and hard working and very experienced attorney of 15 years for a “fringes guy” who is friendly with his current Lady and is not experienced in the ways of the film biz. This is one miserable and not very loyal guy!!
Mr. Lecter – Where have you been? You have been missed so much. I realize that for reasons of secrecy, you have been under the radar.
I am sure I speak for the entire movie community (and, Dino), when I say … WELCOME BACK! Chianti hasn’t tasted the same since … or, fava beans for that matter – your loving fan!
Hey, Jeremy Irons just did a LIfetime movie. They’re always hiring!
I think Anthony isn’t 35, isn’t an action hero/romantic lead, and can’t open a film without Hannibal Lecter. I don’t even think he could land the Sinestro role in the new Green Lantern film (he’s too old). HBO makes two movies and one mega mini-eries a year. So unless he wants to do indy films for no pay that end up direct-to-video, its actually NOT the easiest thing in the world to get Sir Anthony a payday in a big feature. Good luck Sir Anthony and UTA…I don’t sense a big appetite in America to revisit Hannibal Lecter– but as the poster above stated tongue in cheek, he may be your only hope.
mr. hopkins is a great actor but a deeply troubled man…..everyone thinks if they change their agents they will change their lives while what they need to do is take a hard look in the mirror and change themselves
he was signed by two lit agents…interesting…
zimmer is fucking awesome btw. im curious why he hasn’t been more successful of late. he still pulls in 5M a year for doing nothing but i guess that’s the end-game when you start your own agency at age 29…
