The iconic Stan Lee knows it better than anyone – this deal is a winner, and Marvel will only get better.
Stan Lee — What a Marvel!
Why isn’t Stan Lee being asked to join the Disney-Marvel Universe? After all, it was his big bang that created most of it. This is like looking for “a Stan Lee type” when the real thing is available.
He always brings a smile to my face. Love his enthusiasm. We could all take a lesson in livin’ from Stan the Man!
Maybe Stan should talk to the Henson Co. about their Disney deal. Hasn’t worked out too well.
I love Stan but he has a tight deal with Disney, and he wants Marvel to succeed and if he could I think he would take over Marvel, but never had the capitol.
Remember that the last time Disney bought out a Comic Book line they basically stopped publishing for the “re-org” and never printed an issue again.
Stan Lee..what a legend. He’s 86 and still going strong! Amazing.
Buddy Bing….Stan Lee is with DarkHouse now…that is why he’s not asked to join the Disney-Marvel Universe. and savvydude….you’re right stan lee knows it better….the deal is a winner for him and DarkHorse. When Marvel Tanks, true marvel fans will either succumb to dc entirely….or go to darkhorse….
Stan Lee is the coolest–I lived on the Canadian Prairies when I was a kid, and I still remember Stan Lee coming to Winnipeg in the middle of an icy winter to visit one of our comic shops. He wasn’t just the guy who created our favourite heroes; he was a hero to us because he cared enough about us to venture out from New York and shake our hands even during the coldest month of the year. I had relatives who wouldn’t bother coming to see me during the summer, never mind deepest winter. That is why I have always thought of Stan as a member of the family, as a favourite “uncle” who would go the extra mile to make sure you weren’t overlooked or ignored. Thanks Stan Lee.
This deal won’t tank. Marvel is too strong a brand to mess with. And Disney is not the same company they were when Eisner was there so I doubt they will try, plus, Iger is a Marvel fan going way back through a family connection as Nikki posted.
Look at the autonomy Pixar has. Marvel will have the same since they are as strong creatively as Pixar.
This will bring the young male audience’s money to Disney coffers and Marvel will gain the enormous marketing power of Disney.
What ? What? big bang? Are we saying that Stan Lee is old enough to have been there when the universe was created? It seems to me that alot of people here are a bunch of idiots who are full of crap. Stan Lee was not asked to run the new empire mainly because he is old and he would prefer to do creative work. Managing a multibillion empire isn’t creative…it’s only work for mindless drones.
the Marvel/Disney deal stinks. nobody will notice or care until they put out a Mickey Mouse/Wolverine cross over. Trust me on this. Disney has sunk to an all new low. For whoever it was that said “Marvel is going strong” is a moron. They nearly went bankrupt a couple times throughout the 90′s and 00′s. By the way, anyone who enjoys the Marvel themed section in Universal Studios in Orlando, say bye bye. I can’t see Disney wanting one of their precious Marvel themes being at a theme park owned by a rival company. I’m just glad I got to ride the Hulk Coaster before it’s going to disappear.
Apples and oranges, inaMARVELousdespair. I stand by my story and will pull for everyone’s success.
Over the decades I’ve learnt to never trust anyone who says, “trust me”. Anyone who says, “Marvel is still going strong” is right. Their near-bankruptcy days ae behind them, their films are doing (mostly) very well, the garden is looking rosy. Will Disney eventually not renew Universal’s theme park licence? Yes, probably, but for now they will rejoice at being paid for what is effectively an advertisement for Marvel. The deal’s a winner for both companies. When all Muppets rights revert to Disney we can expect a children’s line from Marvel, also featuring Disney and Pixar properties. Crossgen’s characters will almost certainly make a return too, so all you Crossgen fans, both of you, can rejoice.
I THINK IT WOULD BE DIFFERENT AND COOL.TO SEE SOME OF THE MARVEL CHARACTERS IN THE DISNEY PARKS. JACK SPARROW CHILLING OUT WITH WOLVERINE HMMM DIFFERENT YET WOULD BE FUNNY TO SEE MARVEL CHARACTERS INTERACTING WITH DISNEY CHARACTERS IN THE PARKS.WALK MAIN STREET TO SEE CAPTAIN AMERICA.COOL.GOR FOR IT STAN GREAT IDEA.
