Not so much defends him, as covers his own ass in advance. However, does anyone think Craig does not clear his material in advance with Dave?
I barely recognize this show without those ridiculous puppets.
Actually, I believe the whole point of that bit was that there is still one ridiculous puppet left on the show.
nice. so now liberal comedians are off limits to public ridicule when they fuk up. love this double speak double standards.
One of the most disliked men in showbusiness defending another.
craig ferguson is one of the most disliked men in showbiz? news to me.
Didn’t really hear a defense.
…and the unfunny canned jokes.
Best late-night talk-show on television.
it’s time for David Letterman to go.
he doesn’t belong at CBS, or on the public airwaves — using his position as supervisor to sleep with the staff who depend on him for their jobs? give me a break.
I have to believe that CBS, just like any normal company run by thinking people, has a strict policy against this, and that Letterman is bound by it.
Let’s see if they stand up for principle, or just look the other way — to paraphrase Leona Helmsley, “only the little people are bound by the rules” at CBS.
Um, normal person…Dave doesn’t work for CBS. They can cancel their licensing deal with WWP, I guess (and invite a lawsuit), butthey can’t fire him. Try again.
Ferguson is by far the funniest of the late-night guys, I wish he was on earlier.
Letterman is not a CBS employee, he owns his own company which probably has a lax or non-existent harassment policy. That being said, the boss should not be screwing the staff, which is by definition not ‘consensual’. Especially when she moves from the bottom rung to on-air personality. What kind of atmosphere does that create at work? But he’s a liberal, so he gets a pass.
I worked for Ferguson years ago, back when he was a hack making shitty movies about hairdressers, instead of a hack making shitty late-night programming.
He’s an egotistical asshole who has a superiority complex and a drinking problem.
He’s the kind of pompous dickhead that gets off by screaming and stomping his teeny little feet any time he doesn’t get his way.
Craig didn’t defend his boss, except to say late night talk show hosts should not be held to the same moral standard as clergy and elected officials. I agree completely.
As to “anonymous” allegations previous to this post…he’s been sober for nearly 18 years…and as to the asshole comment… I have a friend who works on Ferguson’s staff now who says he’s pretty easy to work with.
First I am CBS’ s demographic. Let me say Ferguson gives laughs and takes the day’s events seriously. Letterman was edgy, funny and new every night till 2005. Since then it seems he has become that crazy uncle you only see at Thanksgiving. Tired skits and looks like he’s there just because…
Bring Jon Stewart to WWP give him Letterman’s time with Craig Ferguson following.
