Michael Patrick King?
He’s among the top female talent?
Is that some kind of joke, because he’s gay?
Or because he created a successful franchise for women?
There’s something kind of effed-up about his inclusion.
What’s up, Nikke?
Really??? And what about the other two talented women who were EPs and writers on Sex & the City, Jenny Bicks and Cindy Chupack? Not to mention the other 4 women on that staff…
No Angelina Jolie? — She is literally the only actress in Hollywood that can get a 150m movie greenlit simply on the strength of her liking a script.
Shonda Rhimes also feels like a glaring omission.
angelina who? that dike hasn’t put out a good movie since she been making them..the author of a book exposing her is enough truth to dethrone her and her family for life..she is part of the blame for america’s financial down fall..all the usa money paid to her for these flop-ass movies is in banks over seas..don’t be stupid america..SHE DEMAND HOW MUCH? SHE IS BEING PAID WITH AMERICA’S TAX-PAYERS MONEY..and america is worried about what poor people do with their money? ban these flop-ass movies, and these ranchie as hop-hipless music..and be for real..it’s people like you who blow minds and spread shit….SHUT THE UP….
Nikki, love your writing and am a devoted fan and reader. But why do you put Andrea Wong on your power list, i trust you to be “real” with your readers. Andrea is a nightmare, truly the worst executive in hollywood. she is not creative, always negative in a meeting, lucky that she worked for bob iger, then lucky to be assigned to work with michael davies and capitalize on the success of millionaire. she was then promoted to take his job and cherry picked shows that were already hits in england (i.e. dancing with the stars) which is not too hard to do. she does not know anything about television, creativity or what makes a show work. she is again failing upward by being promoted at lifetime after presiding over a crash and burn situation there, that network is DOA and she wasn’t capable of doing anything creative to try and fix it. you are always strongly criticising jeff zucker and ben silverman, but andrea is far, far more incompetent than either of them and worst of all ALWAYS NEGATIVE and MEAN for no reason. i have known and worked with ben silverman and he is a creative genius on par with thalberg and roone arledge. andrea does not deserve to have her job and most certainly not to be on a power list written by someone i respect as much as you.
Great to see you mention the brilliant Roone Arledge with whom I worked at ABC. Thank you.
Anne-Marie Johnson a “negotiator?”
Name one thing she’s ever negotiated.
A “protege” maybe.
Michael Patrick King is a woman?
LOL!
I’m sure he’ll be thrilled when notified!
No Megan Fox?
And why is Michael Patrick King on the list? I don’t think he qualifies as a “woman”.
Surprised to see no Oprah on the list.
Michael Patrick King?
I love Michael Patrick king like nobody’s business, he’s brilliantly talented, sweet, and I get that he “gets” ladies, and of course he’s gay and everything…but isn’t he, um…ya know…a man?
Do I need to buy Elle to understand why he makes the list?
Why is Michael Patrick King included on this list?
Uh… Michael Patrick King? Is he an honorary Woman Of Hollywood?
Tyra Banks sucks up $30 million dollars a year? For what? Eleanor Roosevelt must be spinning in her grave.
michael patrick king?
The Michael Patrick King thing is offensive and beneath you. Sad to see it.
How many of these women will get the “Not one of my favorite people, but (S)he was popular among a certain dwindling crowd” obituary when they die??
Michael Patrick King is on your list of Female Talent? Did he have a sex change, or are gay men the same as women in your estimation?
Please inform Michael Patrick King that he is now a woman.
If Elle thinks you’re a powerful person and wants your opinion, I think you should give it to them. Just be happy that this list is your creation and nobody can take that away from you.
Did Michael Patrick King have a sex change operation?
Michael Patrick King = hilarious!
Really, we are still in an age in 2009 where we need a separate category for “Wives & Daughters” as if that’s a legitimate occupation.
Oh, Jesus. Do you really think that’s what she’s asserting? Put down your Naomi Wolf book and think it through.
behind every powerful man, there’s a more powerful woman. or is that not empowering enough for you?
Emma Watts?
Miley Cyrus instead of Angelina Jolie!?
Seriously?
What about Distribution? Or doesn’t that count?
Dear “Not sure how Gloria Steinem would feel about this…”
It isn’t always about the dick-swinging title a woman holds, but how much impact she has on the industry. So yes, actually, being a wife or daughter can be a legitimate occupation – and I’m sure Nikki explains in the article why she chose these ladies.
The problem has always been society not valuing women in whatever they do, being wives and daughters, or running a company. What you just said is not liberated, but a clear example of post-modern chauvinism.
I can’t wait to read the article.
