OK. They got me. I’m there on December 18.
MUCH better than the first trailer…I was getting shades of AYBYSS with the first trailer. Now I just hope we don’t have to go through the mess of an extremely editing process. I’m for all the extra bells and whistles with Cameron’s films and I’m sure we’ll get it wit “Avatar”, al I’m saying is if it’s worthy of screen-time, put it on the damn screen.
On, the line “Gentlemen, your not in Kansas anymore still sounds like it’s coming out of a mouth of a “friend/of/Dorthy.’ Robert Duvall could be saying it and it still relects our AFFINITYwith FRANK L.BAUMS classic.
Long and boring.
kudos to the vendor who cut this together, whoever that may be.
That’s a great trailer. Anyone who H8s on this is dead inside and should move on to another career.
Okay, is it me or does this sound like a James Cameron sock-puppet?
Hey G. Lira, still think imma a sock-puppet? One question for you as you pursue your new career: Can I get a table on the patio?
Devin Feraci from CHUD exposed! Well, it is a long story and actually quite a convoluted one, long story short, Devin actually got upset that he could not attend an advanced preview (as a member of press) to see an advanced preview of a picture that shall remain nameless. He also has a personal grudge against Jim Cameron himself. This i will explain, Devin has been blacklisted by FOX execs, the reason for this is partially down to the fact that Devin was obnoxious in reviews insulted core members of various teams and insinuated lies and lawsuits. This can even be seen today in his writings on AVATAR`s plagiarism claims. There is also it has to be said a great deal of backdoor shenanigans involving Devin and the hierarchy of FOX. In short Devin is blackballed. Devin found this out via his own message board forums. Now im not standing here trying to defend FOX`s output for the last 6 years, how could i ? What i am trying to inform you on is this… This is personal, This has nothing to do with fan expectation, it has nothing to do with the progress of cinema…
IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH A PERSONAL EFFORT TO DERAIL THE PRODUCTIONS IMPACT.
Yes it is pathetic, yes it is childish, but if you read Devin for any amount of time, you realise childish is exactly what Devin is. the whole AVATAR deal on Chud.com is what the online industry describe as “Leaf littering” take your core audience turn them onto your ideals and use that in turn to attack your enemies. Very simple and very effective. It has been done before and it will continue to happen. It can be a good thing, however when the motives become personal and not representative of the greater fact, that is when moral issues arise. I have it on high authority FOX and in particular Jim Cameron is highly upset with Devin and the continuing abuse he keeps throwing at not just the production but the people who this movie is aimed at (which by the way, is everyone). If you were to lay out the level of abuse aimed at AVATAR and pin that to the production outgoings, you will clearly see that Chud and the level of attack has steadily gone up with the anticipation, until finally we see an attack so blatant and mean that it will make even the most skeptic sit up and pay attention, Devin is literally trying to get third parties involved to actually file lawsuits against the core creators of AVATAR, in particular James Cameron. I am told this is serious stuff, and fox is itching for Devin to step a foot out of line so he can be drawn over the coals. This is a very childish and personal situation Devin has created for himself. My guess is the biggest backlash will eventually fall on Devin
Brilliant! Let’s see what the haters say now. Eat their words…
Sucks about as bad as the first one. Turkey.
Wow, that CGI is very impressive. Pandora looks beautiful, but I’m not so sure Cameron’s one liner heavy dialogue will fly in the age of TDK and District 9. That aside, this trailer blows the last one out of the water.
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, I’m in.
Wow! This is a great trailer! I thought the first one was not that good, but this really sets the story up much better.
I am excited to see this film now!
Looks like it would be a great movie – without all of the cartoons.
From JAMES CAMERON…
The maker of TITANIC… and JAMES CAMERON’s career…
Comes a movie from the director of TITANIC…
And the genius behind JAMES CAMERON’s IMDB page…
And such classics as TITANIC…
In addition to CAMERON, JAMES…
The TITANIC director presents…
JAMES CAMERON’s follow-up to TITANIC…
…JAMES CAMERON’s AVATAR…
i mean, you simply make no sense whatsoever. titanic is the highest grossing film of all time (appeals to the female audience) and touting aliens/true lies gets the potential male audience testosterone going.
all along the claim about avatar has been the theater experience. viewing a relatively thin plot most likely doesn’t do justice to the notion of an “avatar movie experience”
i think james cameron is exceptionally egotistical, but too be honest, with good cause. he has made billions for fox, and it would be foolish for them not to brag about his past successes.
if you’re not excited about avatar, that’s fine, it’s not going to sell 6 billion tickets. but, come on now.
CRAPTASTIC! (“All I needed was something to fight for.” )
I knew there was a live action ‘Smurfs’ in the works but I had no idea there was already a trailer out for it.
Okay, that’s not really a fair comment. . . but it is hilarious.
Great trailer. I wasn’t sure about this movie after watching the sneak peek that nikki posted before but this trailer definitely makes me want to see it. This trailer along with Cameron’s track record should make it hard for most people to resist. Avatar should be a blockbuster.
Let me see if I understand what this is about…..
White man wants a priceless jewel that exists on another planet that is inhabited by odd looking colored creatures. White man disguises himself as odd colored creature in order to infiltrate, kill and retrieve.
The End?
No, no… it’s white man goes native and leads the odd looking creatures to victory against his own kind. It’s Dances with Wolves with play dough sock puppets.
Absolutely more impressive than the first trailer.
This film is going to be a modern Heaven’s Gate. With it’s budget over $300 million (sorry Time magazine, your initial estimate was correct, despite your retraction), the only way Avatar will earn its money back is if every man, woman and child in America sees it twice. That ain’t gonna happen, not by a long shot. I’ve seen over 40 minutes of the film and it’s weak, weak, weak.
Cameron’s folly will most certainly fail. And it couldn’t have happened to a nicer fella.
Absolutely more compelling than the first trailer.
I agree with the first poster on that.
I haven’t seen anything like 40 minutes of the movie (all I’ve seen is the 3D footage released on “Avatar” day) but that Jar Jar Binks/Ferngully conversation has been had to death.
so while I still agree that it looks like a cartoon – this trailer makes me actually give a shit for at least a little bit…
I’ll wait to order it on Netflix.
GI JOE meets the SEA MONKEES
I was thinking The Phantom Menace meets The Last Samurai.
Ah ha ha. I used to love sea monkeys, when I was a kid.
Then they moved into my house and kicked out my parents.
i hate to judge something based only on the trailer, but this makes me really, really nervous. it looks cool, but man does the story seem thin. nonetheless, this is a james cameron project, and so that alone means it deserves benefit of the doubt.
Looks weak. Another variation on the “white man joins the natives and takes up the fight” genre. The dialogue sounds like a collection of tired, tough guy action movie cliches (“You are not in Kansas anymore” and “this, this is our land”). I also don’t think it is a good idea to have characters state their motivations (All I need is something to fight for). I don’t see what the excitement is about.
Ferngully: The Last Starfighter.
or is it…
Revenge of the Ewoks
I can’t decide…
I’m excited to see this movie unlike any other movie I’ve seen in a long time after seeing that trailer. My anticipation for The Dark Knight was high as it was for the first Batman, Fight Club, and The first Star Wars prequil, but this film offers a new world that looks absolutely fantastic and a story that appears to be of epic proportions. Cameron is sure to hit all the right notes and sweet spots.
While obviously targeted toward males, the romantic elements presented in the trailer may be enough to draw in signifant female viewers considering the romantic elements in Cameron’s previous hit and should have all the girls who were dragged to the movie by their boyfriends and husbands also leave the theater satiated and with a sense of exileration.
I’ll be sure to make my first advance ticket purchase in the best 3-D theater I can find for ‘AVATAR.’
A lot of 12-year-olds will see this. Older than 12? Unlikely. Looks like a stiff given $300-400M production & distribution costs.
Oh come on, the studio flaks aren’t even trying anymore.
