TJ Miller, an LA-based comedian (Cloverfield, Carpoolers) shot this video after two unsuccessful auditions for the Warner Bros’ Yogi Bear movie. Studio boss Alan Horn and producer Donald De Line saw this footage and offered him a major part in the film. He’s already in New Zealand shooting:

Alan Horn and Donald DeLine. When I think “comedy” those are the only two people who come to mind.
-RnsW
Anybody who has seen him as Marmaduke on CARPOOLERS (a wildly underrated show) knows that he’s a comedic genius. He’s gonna be a big star.
This is one smart dude. Good on him for making his own break.
I loved him in Carpoolers and he was great in Cloverfield, but that was terrible. Just because he can stand near a bear doesn’t mean he should get the part. I like stunts like this, but he’s just not right! They needed a Ty Burrell-type. Clean cut slender tall man with a serious voice and demeanor to counter the insanity of a bear wearing a tie.
Who am I kidding? This movie will be terrible, no matter who they cast.
The two auditions were not “Unsuccessful,” he was told that he already had the part, the video clinched it.
He also sent the video as a joke, saying it was “very important additional materials vital in the casting consideration.”
Don’t get it twisted.
Please. “Told he had the part.” Who hasn’t been told they have the part and then the deal memo doesn’t come through?
Good for T.J. for sealing the deal.
TJ Miller FTW. End of conversation.
pretty much. nicely done.
Funny! But does not go along with a FRUGAL artiste, n’est-ce pas?
They shd hv hired the BEAR!
Fair play!
Did they offer Miller, or the bear the part?
The bear is really good , is he going to play Yogi?
not funny.
The guy was cute. I’d like to see more of him.
ummm …. not funny … bad video.
Anyone know who the bears agent is? I’d like to talk to him.
“Yogi the bear,” which takes place in Jellystone Park, is shooting in New Zealand? Gee, thanks, Warner Brothers. Another movie I won’t have to waste my time or money on.
This has “The Flintstones,” “Scooby-Doo,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” “Popeye,” “Fat Albert,” “George of the Jungle,” “Garfield,”"Rocky and Bullwinkle,”"Underdog,”"Inspector Gadget,”The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” and all the other misguided attempts to create feature films based on cartoon characters. Does anyone in Hollywood have an ounce of creativity any longer? What’s next Jm J. Bullock as Snagglepuss? Exit stage right!
But while on the subject of bad cinema, I’d still plunk down $10 to see someone adapt the “The Munsters” for the big screen. The obvious choices would be Brad Garrett as Herman, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Lily, Kevin Pollak as Grandpa, Evan Rachel Wood as Marilyn and Trevor Gagnon as Eddie Munster. I just feel these people would look great in the make-up… and in black and white.
I admire TJ Miller’s persistence.
I don’t find this funny, sad and twisted actually. Animals are not here for our entertainment – THEY BELONG IN THE WILD.
Not one reputable NGO from the Jane Goodall Institute to the Born Free Foundation to the Wildlife Conservation Society supports or endorses animals used in entertainment.
Here are the facts:
To get a wild animal to “perform” – primates, elephants, big cats – they are beaten. Period. There is countless undercover footage that has exposed these assholes.
TJ is probably the biggest marshmallow that bear ever saw.
haha very funny TJ! good one. I am happy he got the job.
and you haters are just pathetic. I wonder how many of you office pussies could do the same.
go TJ!
Not funny. Again, the sign of our times. Shock value. Attention grabber. But still not funny. This is the reality world now. So I guess we all need to get along with it. Still not funny. But risky and fun to watch because you feel the bear could eat him any second. If he had been attacked now that would have been not funny. But big news. He probably would have been a big star that way. TJ has a weak team around him from people in the know. Yes, he’s with 3 Arts. That said, he is not taken seriously at all. Again, I know. He’s a comic they through up to the wall and if he sticks great if not, next! Seriously folks. Let’s get real.
Thank you.
I think I’ve seen him as a part of Chelsea Lately’s table of misfits, he was pretty funny there.
I don’t know why they’re even making this movie. But if Warner is so committed to making feature films based on old Hanna-Barbera cartoons, when the hell do we get the “Catch That Pigeon” feature. I mean just think of the possibilities: Jim Carey as Dick Dasterdly, and Seth Greene as Mutley. Comedy gold!
I’m sure it went down just like that.
OY! are you a casting director? No? Then who cares if you think it is not funny.
