EXCLUSIVE: You know I’m insecure about my geek bonafides which I’ve been trying to improve in recent years. (Heck, I grew up never reading a single comic book.) But I’m aware that the Internet has been afloat with Spider-Man 4 casting rumors in recent days. While Sony Pictures insists no decisions have been made, sources tell me that the producers have approached Anne Hathaway to star in the film. Maybe you experts have an idea what she’ll play? All I know is that she’s wanted for a starring role, and she won’t replace Kirsten Dunst who’s also cast in the Spidey fourquel. UPDATE: You readers think the role is The Black Cat.

Please REBOOT this tired franchise!
Tired of the look and sound of the Spiderman films in general, the last one was a bloated, unfocused and tedious disaster – SPIDERMAN 3 pretty much killed the franchise for me: the clichéd repetitive music, the Emo-Saturday Night Fever scenes showing how cool (or uncool) Parker was, one-dimensional villains who morph into Godzilla at the climax, Sony’s insistence on taking Parker’s mask off for many scenes, Raimi’s interruption of action scenes by inserting lame comedy and characters such as TV reporters, the same Spiderman gliding/flying angles, the infuriatingly boring love triangle with a most grating actress Kirstin Dunst – I could go on…
Raimi has kinda lost his edge on these films (and this is coming from someone who loved SPIDERMAN 2)…they all look like carbon copies of each other. The black suit alone would have merited a film; so would Sandman; Venom; Hobgoblin, etc – but no, Raimi had to cram the film with all the Joel Shumacher BATMAN excesses…
So it made a lot of money – so what? So did INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE NUKED FRIDGE, and that was a dog.
Sam Raimi needs to leave the franchise. Everything about his take on the franchise is tired by now – reboot the whole thing: music, principal actors etc…call it THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN.
I couldn’t agree more. They need to just take a break from Spider Man in general. There are so many other good comic book characters that would have movies that are better than this repetitive Spider Man garbage.
I’m sick of people bashing Indy 4, especially using that scene. Honestly, if you actually watch the old movies without nostalgia glasses, Indy was surviving stuff that should have killed him all the freaking time. If that took you out of the movie, you really weren’t going in expecting an Indiana Jones movie.
INDY 4 is an abomination. It’s horrible. It’s more like THE MUMMY than any of the original three Indy films (actually it’s worse than the first two Mummy movies) — lazy CGI special effects, a tepid story, embarrassing sequences…one of Spielberg’s worst movies.
And it ain’t just “nostalgia glasses” — the original three Indy films HOLD UP. They’re better written by a country mile and were directed with energy. Spielberg didn’t care about Indy 4 and it showed — the whole movie was lazy, and pointless.

I like Anne Hathaway, she’s a good actress. Her career will be fine as long as she doesn’t do another Bride Wars.

Don’t do it Anne. Stay away. Run for the hills. This franchise’s disastrous handling of Gwen Stacy showed that as long as MJ is around the other notable Spidey femmes will be shown the back of the hand to prop her up. To even suggest Anne for the part of the Black Cat exposes the franchise’s lack of seriousness for the character.
Black Cat is a straight up ripoff of Catwoman, and since Warners is probably thinking about using her in BATMAN 3, there could be a bit of compitition here (actresses would think twice about taking the CLONE if they thought they had a chance at playing the REAL THING). Of course, Raimi really wants to make Batman movies anyway (he actively pitched himself for the job TWICE, and even made the Batman-esque DARKMAN), and Warners should have given it to him- he’s better suited to the job than any of the guys who HAVE done it!

spidy—tangles with a brown recluse–some mad crazy scientist–is looking for a way–to-weaponize–an army of brown recluse spiders–and in the process the secret potion—blows up in his face in the –lab–and the scientist turns into—the venomous brown recluse–spider—whose venom —turns people into a decomposing mush–
that would be one I would go see—that would have all the ingredieants of a great flick..

Anne’s already got a lot on her plate: the highly anticipated Judy Garland biopic Get Happy, a movie version of the musical Barnum w/ Hugh Jackman, and a Get Smart sequel w/ Steve Carell. yeah, I don’t think she’ll be doing Spider Man 4.
Marvel should move on to OTHER interesting characters. Oh wait, they don’t have any other interesting characters. These are all they’ve got. My bad. =P

Spiderman is the most interesting in my(and a lot of others) opinion but Marvel has plenty of interesting characters to choose from and many have been portrayed on screen quite nicely…until they get fucked up by the greedy ass studios who interfere too god damned much

Hathaway was great in Devil Wears Prada, but I just hate her overall. I don’t think she is sexy enough..She’s no classy dame. She shouldn’t be in this film. Downright annoying. Get Scarlett or Rachel or Jordana Brewster. Jordan if you’re reading this – let’s rise you back from the rock you crawled under. why have you made such bad choices lately? Besides paycheck on Fast and Furious (which was smart) what else is going on? Everyone loves you, you’re hot and convincingly sexy. Hathaway? Please….

hmm it could be, and i don’t mean by artistic talent, just off how hot they have to lock. Jessica Simpson, Scarlett Johannson, Malin Akerman(From Watchmen). Or Rachel Taylor from transformers, the only problem with her would be that she have an accent.
