While I was out to dinner, this news came in, and Alex Young must be gnashing his teeth. That’s because Emma Watts has been named President of Production for Twentieth Century Fox signed to a multiyear contract. She will report to Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos. The 11-year Fox veteran finally assumes sole leadership of the production division after serving for the past two years as co-prez of production with Alex Young, who’s now a producer on the lot. Watts is currently overseeing a number of pictures set for release next year, including Date Night, Tooth Fairy, Marmaduke, and some of the films which Alex had been in charge of like Wall Street 2 and The A-Team.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Good fucking luck, Emma.
Congratulations to her. She’s one of the best execs and people out there…
Emma is literally one of the dumbest people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. I don’t know how she functions in her day-to-day life, let alone how she’ll run a studio.
Good riddance – Alex Young was a moronic, egotistical little punk.
YES! Agreed. Such an ass.
Does anyone know what’s going on with Alex Young’s new production company?
Did anyone see this coming? I thought I read their co-prez set up was working ok. At least Young still has a job as a producer.
Yeah, but…they still let Alex on the lot. So it’s not a total victory.
