• How sad is it that there is no obvious “go-to” person to host the Oscars. It used to be a fairly done deal–Bob Hope or Johnny Carson. They tried going with no host a few times–why not this year? Why have a host at all?

  With Stiller and Downey Jr. you’re seeing a clash of egos. I’m sure that they were both seriously offended to have been considered as a duo. That Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin actually took the job shows desperation for attention. I can see Steve Martin needing it, not sure why Baldwin needs it. Are we certain that Stephen Baldwin won’t substitute at the last minute?

• I have never thought Ben Stiller was funny. Robert Downey is a great actor and he knows that to do this hosting gig would only downplay his talent.
