UTA board member Tracey Jacobs made the announcement this morning to the agency that talent agents Billy Lazarus and Shani Rosenzweig have been promoted to the UTA partnership. Both joined the agency about 10 years ago. Lazarus, who reps clients such as Elizabeth Banks, Patrick Dempsey, Sigourney Weaver, Joseph Fiennes, Sandra Oh, Hope Davis, Kyra Sedgwick, and Emily Watson, joined the agency from the PR firm Huvane Baum Halls before it merged with PMK. Rosenzweig, whose clients include Paul Rudd, Jason Bateman, Tim Robbins, Josh Peck, Vincent D’Onofrio, Michelle Rodriguez, Wilmer Valderrama, Michael Keaton, William Petersen, Alicia Silverstone, started her career at Abrams Artists. This brings the total number of partners at UTA to 23, out of more than 100 agents. Pretty soon, UTA will have to hold its staff meetings at the Beverly Wilshire, too.

Congrats to Shani and Billy… both two great agents.
Mazel Tov! it couldn’t have happened to two better people. i’ve known and worked with both billy and shani for the last six years, and the two have proven to be some of the most professional and selfless people when it comes to dealing with their clients…unlike the other two that flew on broomsticks to Endeavor a couple of years ago.
So deserved!!!
two amazing agents…..very very well deserved
two total losers, who never made a cent for UTA, but hung on to Tracey with all they had. Neither of them could find a job for half the money elsewhere.
Darren = Sharon? Sour grapes, perhaps?
Out of curiosity, who are the board members at UTA? How are board members different from other partners at UTA? It’s always great to see hard working, dedicated people get promoted.
she’s a lamb!
Agencies like UTA and the old Endeavor make agents partners usually in order to keep them from leaving and/or as a bargaining chip in their renegotiations.
Great for them – they weathered the storm and are finally getting what they deserved. My guess is Darren leaving opened this up for them – the board wouldn’t promote Darren because of all of his shenanigans, and they because of the size of his clients, couldn’t promote anyone else in the talent dept. These two deserve it more than ANYONE!
Congratulations to Shani! A terrific agent.
Billy is not one to take risks and break new talent. He’s fine on a team with stronger agents.
Just an opinion.
Interesting you say that, i believe he represents one of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch. Just another opinion…
Absurd- Billy discovered Kate Bosworth and nurtured her career for years. Really unfortunate how she left him after all his work.
HUGE!!!!
Shani is one of the hardest working, fastest reading, most honest agents in town…
and did you see that picture in Variety???
Billy not only has a great eye for and nurtures talent, but he fights harder for his clients and cares more about them as people than any other agent I have come across. Well deserved.
Congrats, Shani–I was one of the first producers Shani covered when she started at UTA 10 years ago. She treated my movie like an Oscar winner back then even when I was a nobody. She treats all of her clients with the utmost respect and works equally hard for all of them. UTA is lucky to have her.
Emile Hirsch should go back to her–he hasn’t worked since he left
Shani helped me cast one of my first films 10 yrs ago and she treated me like I was an Oscar winner when I was a nobody. She fought dilligently not only for her clients but for the agency’s. She has always been this way and gets you honest info quickly. They are lucky to have her–It’s hard to find real agents who read and have a real point of view anywhere anymore.
Ok…Billy did NOT discover Kate Bosworth…elena at gersh in ny did….nuff said
Billy got that freakazoid eye’d girl more work than elena did. And notice how she fired one agency and will probably fire the other since she left. Not to mention she hasn’t worked since.
billy is amazing smart ideas fights hard for his clients great taste everyone in town loves this guy and respects him – what more can you ask for in a rep !!!!!!! cant say that about most agents in this frickin town
Two more losers at a company full of them.
Unable To Agent
ok honest answer where the heck do you get that info – billy has an amazing list that go much well beyond the list posted by nikki or variety and he’s incredible as the head of a team or the person who can identify the talent and put the right team together to win the day, he is one hell of an amazing agent i should know i have tried to get him to come to my agency many times over the past 10 years – total star, i dont know shani as well but i hear nothing but incredible things.
